The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) Officer, Surveillance job in Kenya

The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) is a company licensed by the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) to facilitate the trading of financial products through the provision of a trading platform for listed securities. 

In line with this mandate, the Exchange is seeking to recruit qualified, dynamic, self- motivated and results- oriented individuals to fill the following position:
 

Officer, Surveillance
 

Overall Purpose
 

Reporting to the Manager, Trading Operations, the selected candidate will be responsible for conducting market surveillance on a broad range of listed securities with a view to maintaining a fair, efficient and transparent market.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Carrying out real time surveillance of listed securities and providing an early warning alert on market irregularities detected.
  • Examining transactions showing irregular movements based on day-to-day surveillance of market movements and information obtained from various sources including public and undisclosed information affecting a listed security.
  • Monitoring trading, order matching and ensuring that stockbrokers/ Automated Trading System operators comply with the NSE Trading Rules.
  • Monitoring and reviewing print and electronic media reports and other relevant sources of information to identify securities requiring detailed analysis and investigation.
  • Identifying exceptions to usual patterns of dealing and recommending further investigations against market participants involved in dubious deals in violation of NSE and CMA laws, rules and regulations.
  • Identifying people and early warning signs of unlawful conduct to prevent infractions and protect investors.
  • Preparing end of day market reports.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies, Economics, Management, IT, Statistics or equivalent from a relevant field.
  • Minimum two (2) years relevant work experience with the capital markets.
