Key Accounts Manager job in Kenya

Organisation Description

Our client is a renowned international pharmaceutical organisation based in Nairobi and is currently seeking to fill the position of a Key Accounts Manager

Job Purpose

To support the achievement of the organisation’s  goals by implementing benefit-based programs with designated Key Account customers; to establish the organisation as the preferred partner of choice with assigned Key Accounts; to support the creation of a customer-centric approach across the country.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sets plans, priorities, and performance objectives for assigned key accounts, to be approved by the Head of Field Force/FLM; ensures cross-functional understanding of these plans with Channel Heads and other key functions.
  • Allocates resources across key accounts to meet the plan.
  • Acts as point of integration for services across the organization’s portfolio in specific key accounts.
  • Ensures achievement of the key account plans and delivery of the required financial results.
  • Provides expert insight into the local healthcare system, legislation and their impact on key accounts.
  • Builds and sustains long term professional partnerships with customers and key accounts that create appropriate mutual benefits.
  • Ensures access and influence to key account and legislative decision-makers in an appropriate manner that serves the organisation’s  legitimate interests.
  • Performs and reports on competitive intelligence activities on key accounts.
  • Runs or works on projects that develop KAM capability throughout the company.
  • Provides leadership, mentoring and coaching to assigned associates.

  • Works within Ethics and Compliance policies and ensures those around him/her do the same
  • Works to ensure a diverse and inclusive environment, free from all forms of discrimination and harassment.
  • Adhere to the following clause “All Organisation Associates are required to inform local Pharmacovigilance operations and/or medical department without delay of any adverse event information or new data on products which they receive”
Education & Experience
  • Must have a first degree in a relevant discipline OR Life science degree,
  • Proven, successful track record in Field Force related activities (Primary and Secondary Care)
  • At least Three to Five years in Pharma industry preferred. 
  • Ability to manage relationships with a number of external customers
  • Marketing Sciences/product management experience would be beneficial but not essential
