WindGen Power East Africa is a renewable energy solutions provider that designs and  manufactures small wind turbines in Nairobi.
In addition to turbine fabrication, WindGen designs, installs, and services renewable energy systems for its customers who include residences, schools, clinics, businesses, and light commercial facilities.

Job Description
The Workshop Manager is in charge of all production and workshop employees at WindGen’s fabrication facility.
He/she will work closely with and directly under the Operations Manager, who is responsible for running the overall operations of the business.
The Workshop Manager is responsible to the Operations Manager for setting the production schedule, minimizing production costs, maintaining an adequate product and material inventory, performing quality control, and managing the workshop employees.
This is a position that will require a significant amount of organization, discipline, and
self-motivation.
Roles and Responsibilities

Production:

Responsible for overseeing the entire workshop and production process of WindGen products.
At each stage in the production process the Workshop manager must make sure that each component is built to the required WindGen standards.
The Workshop Manager must enforce proper techniques and institute a strict adherence to precision and detail in all stages of production.
He/she will track and properly document all products and standards monitored during the production process.
The Workshop Manager will also be responsible for implementing R&D on new technology and designs.
Inventory and Procurement:
The Workshop Manager will work closely with the Operations Manager in maintaining the adequate quantity of WindGen products, manufacturing materials, and tools in the workshop at all times.
Employee Management:
Responsible for managing all WindGen employees operating in the workshop.  The Workshop Manager will be responsible for submitting periodic Employee Evaluations as well as managing attendance, vacation days, and sick days for each employee.
He/she will have a high level of input over all hiring and employee management decisions in the workshop.
The Workshop Manager will also be expected to supervise employee development and continuing education sessions.
Workshop:
Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe workspace that meets both government and WindGen regulations.
Responsible for providing each employee with the necessary safety equipment and to make sure that no dangerous operations are carried out on WindGen property.
Safety is of the utmost importance.
Qualifications
The right candidate for the Workshop Manager position will be:
  • Organized and motivated
  • Capable of effectively managing a team of 5-10 workshop employees and maintaining a positive and productive work environment
  • Experienced with a wide variety of workshop tools and fabrication techniques (including steel, wood, fiberglass, and electronics)
  • Of the highest personal and professional integrity, honesty, and work ethic
  • Comfortable with a certain level of flexibility that comes with working with a small company
