Job Title: Senior Programme Assistant
Duty Station: Nairobi
Post Grade: SC6 (Service Contract)
Accountabilities:
Under the overall guidance of the Head of PRRO Recovery and under the supervision of the National Programme Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for operational management of programme related activities within the PRRO Recovery.
Oversee implementation and monitoring of project activities at field level and recommend adjustments and improvements as necessary;
Provide direct support to field staff, NGO cooperating partners in resolving programme issues and activities.
Ensure that all operational and CP reports are received through close follow up, compile and update monthly for reporting to the management;
Develop and maintain databases and records for project activities, extracting relevant information from reports, project committee, budget records and
make information available for county briefs, executive briefs and other reports;
Monitor, update and track data related to project issues, financial allotment status reports, ensure accuracy of data;
Provide monthly stock updates at district level, follow up on food requests forms from district, prepare projections for food commodities;
Carry out advocacy, training and information related tasks including presentations at workshops, development of training materials and ensure adequate
training of counterpart and NGO staff;
Maintain records on programme activities, from formulation stage through completion, by extracting relevant information from reports, project
committees, budget records and other documentation; make information available for country briefs, country profiles, and other related purposes; ensure
project cycle deadlines are met;
Prepare status and progress reports by providing information and background material for use in discussions and briefing sessions;
Provide guidance, on-the-job training and assistance to support staff;
Evaluate, develop, and recommend procedures. Participates in discussions on new/revised procedures and practices; interprets and assesses the
impact of changes and makes recommendations on follow up actions;
Regularly visit projects sites to review project outputs, maintain close links with partners, beneficiaries
Participate in M&E activities including overseeing and collection of project data, maintaining M&E database and analysing of data;
Review and contribute towards design and development of M&E database, analysis and reporting;
Attend coordination meetings as required;
Maintaining close relationship with VAM unit in analysis, interpretation of related data and other activities;
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential: First degree in the following fields, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Water, Development Economics, Rural Development
Experience: A minimum of five years of progressive experience on food security related rural development of which at least one year was closely related
to food assistance related work or similar related field.
Skills: Training and/or experience using MS Word and MS Excel and other software.
Knowledge: Training and/or experience utilizing computers including word processing, spreadsheet and other software packages.
Language: Fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
