WASH (Water, Sanitation & Health) Facilitator job at Happy Villages Kenya

Happy Villages would like to employ a WASH Facilitator to work in its field office.

Job Title: WASH (Water, Sanitation & Health) Facilitator
Reports to:
Program Manager
Based at: Lieta village, South Uyoma location in Rarieda District
The Organization:
Happy Villages is a small NGO working towards a world without extreme poverty. We are based in Lieta Village, South Uyoma, Rarieda, Kenya.
Purpose of the Role:
To assist Lieta Community to meet the Millennium Development Goals (particularly those related to health, water and sanitation) through facilitation of water, health and sanitation programs using integrated community developments initiatives within the community.

Specific Responsibilities:
Manage the day to day design and coordination of WASH initiative workshops in adult dialogue format;
Ensure that research materials available to provide training to local partner initiatives in the areas of WASH.
Initiate school led total sanitation clubs or support the existing health clubs to achieve the same aims; involve children through household hygiene education activities.
Facilitate training to the selected participants e.g. Teachers, village elders, school prefects and parents on community led sanitation activities.
Work as a member of a team within the Happy Villages who will work alongside you to accomplish the research and training;
Write quarterly stories about the development of the WASH initiatives in Lieta village.
Complete weekly or monthly reports regarding work.
Facilitate effective participation of children, families, communities and stakeholders in program activities.
Facilitate the formation of focus group discussions within the community.
Create community awareness on WASH measures through use of murals and any other appropriate method.
Collaborate with the government administration to ensure that the community is well informed on WASH issues.
Coordinate activities of medical, nursing and administrative staffs and services.
Direct collection, analysis and interpretation of statistics significant to program planning and budget preparation.
Prepare and submit budget estimates for WASH activities.
Participate in establishing programs for guidance and professional development of WASH staff.
Participate in community planning concerning WASH and social welfare problems.
Consult with PM in establishment of WASH policies of community health facilities and outreach programs.
Represent Happy Villages at community meetings
Develop and expand programs and services for WASH research, preventive medicine, medical and vocational rehabilitation and community health and welfare promotion.
Organize and execute outreach programs
General administration of the WASH facilities and WASH programs
Collate relevant information and assist with the reporting requirements back to donors.
Adhere to and implement Happy Villages policies.
Skills and Experience
At least 1 year experience in a similar role in an NGO environment.
Excellent communication skills
Training skills especially in WASH methods(desirable)
WASH and rural development activities.
Role plays and ability to work with children.
Ecological sanitation workshops.
Problem solving skills.
Persuasion and negotiation skills.
Team-playing skills.
Facilitation skills in similar capacity.
Good understanding of the rural community setup.
Proficient in computer skills/internet.
Good interpersonal skills.
Excellent knowledge of the Millennium Development Goals.
Qualification
At least Diploma in environment/community health studies
Terms of Employment
Salary of 20,000Ksh Per Month
Three month probation period after which you will be assessed based on the performance before confirmation of a one year contract.
