Communications Specialist job in Kenya


Communications Specialist - Fulltime Position

Job Purpose
To be part of the dynamic communication team responsible for the overall daily management and delivery of innovative organizational communication deliverables.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Under the supervision of the Communications Manager, write content and produce high quality periodical publications that include but not limited to Highlights, Monthly Bulletins, Site Briefs, Snapshots, Case Studies, Quarterly and Annual Reports.
  2. Under the supervision of the Communications Manager, gather information, write and edit content for KHCP publications as well as coordinate the production and circulation of these publications to key strategic audiences.
  3. Manage and update KHCP video and photography database.
  4. Timely upload photos on Fintrac PUBS as well as gathering photos from field staff.
  5. Assist the Communications Manager in the daily management of the department as well as the overall delivery of departmental deliverables.
  6. Reports directly to the Communications Manager.  This consist providing communications support to the Communications Manager that includes and is not limited to field visits, workshops and media monitoring. 
  7. Undertake any duty and responsibility assigned to by either the Communications Manager or Project Director. 
Qualification Requirements

1.    Bachelor Degree in Journalism and/or Mass Communications, or any other related field.
2.    At least 2 years’ experience working in a media company or in a development organization, experience with USAID and/or agricultural funded program will be an added advantage.
3.    Demonstrable experience in good writing and editorial skills.
4.    A confident good communicator with demonstrable experience as a writer and editor.
5.    Demonstrable experience in desktop publishing.
6.    Performance driven, dedicated and highly motivated team player.
7.    Willing to travel extensively to the field. 

Salary and Timelines
A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
