Title: Senior Program Assistant
NDI is seeking a senior program assistant who will support a senior program manager, program officer, and director in the day-to-day activities of planning, designing and implementing programs related to the constitutional program by performing the duties listed below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supports program implementation for the NDI Executive Program by carrying out the following functions:
  • Provides administrative and logistical support to the program staff but serves as primary support to the Senior Program Manager and  Program Director;
  • Takes the lead in organizing local and regional program conferences, workshops and meetings;
  • Assist as needed in identifying local and regional consultants for projects;
  • Assists with developing program and activity budget and monitoring
  • Provides input on quarterly reports and program proposals;
  • Assists with activity and program expenditure reconciliations
  • Helps to prepare activity reports, meeting minutes and submits them in a timely manner;
  • Compiles briefing materials for staff and consultants in the program;
  • Trains and supervises program interns on basic programmatic and administrative tasks;
  • Carries out other tasks as requested.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree preferred;
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience working with international organizations;
  • Experience with organizing conferences, training, and workshops preferred;
  • Work experience as an interpreter in training or workshops strongly preferred;
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills required;
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately handle stressful working conditions;
  • Excellent writing skills;
  • Openness to work effectively and without bias with all communities in Somalia;
  • Proven capacity to meet program goals while managing administrative responsibilities;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively present information in a clear and concise manner in English;
  • Working knowledge of PC-based word processing and spreadsheet applications; and
  • Ability to travel and work outside Kenya;
  • This is a National position, all non-Kenya applicants must hold valid work permits and/or visa documents.
