SAFARICOM VACANCIES IN KENYA

We are pleased to announce the following vacancy within Enterprise Strategic Business Unit. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:

Principal Enterprise Business Analyst 
Ref: ESBU_ PEBU_AUGUST_2012

Reporting to the Senior Manager-Enterprise Business planning and Pricing; the job holder will provide accurate and timely business analytics to support Enterprise Business Decision making process. The job holder will also play a lead role in Enterprise Market business intelligence gathering process and also during the budgeting process. Key Responsibilities Support Enterprise Business Unit Management in decision making by providing accurate and timely
business analytics; Development of all Enterprise Business budgets and takes lead role in Strategy formulation; Monitoring of Internal and external environment to identify opportunities and gaps to spur Enterprise growth; Gather intelligence from market activities and analyze impact on Safaricom Business; Continuously review trends in the enterprise market (local and Global) and identify opportunities and gaps existing in growing Enterprise business to be a one stop shop for all it solutions; Control and identity cost saving opportunities within Enterprise Business Unit.

Minimum Requirements 
A degree in BCOM preferably in Economics, or an MA Economics;
At least 5 years’ experience in strategic planning/business planning;
A post graduate degree, i.e. MBA will be an added advantage;
Qualified Accountant CPA (K)/CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent;
Demonstrate analytical skills and ability to monitor and explain trends and variances;
Proactive, confident, self- drive for results with the ability to work under pressure and tight schedules/deadlines and with minimum supervision;
A proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

Principal Engineer Transmission Configuration & Support 
Ref: TECHNOLOGY_PETCS__AUG _2012
Reporting to the Senior Manager: Configuration & Support, the position holder will be responsible for Troubleshooting and Resolution of faults &
failures in the access transmission network;
Providing technical assistance to sectional and field engineer in fault resolution process; Providing long term transmission system configuration and support;
Providing second line to transmission system faults escalated from first line maintenance;
Follow up with the vendors of the transmission equipment for resolution of escalated faults ; Perform transmission upgrades and major network configuration changes;
Developing tools for automation and speed up the support processes and Participation in the introduction of new technologies

The job holder’s key responsibilities will be to:
Maintain high transmission systems availability to support customer traffic;
Ensuring transmission operational availability to support customer traffic and better user experience;
Resolution of faults escalated from 1st Line maintenance teams within SLAs;
Knowledge transfer and mentorship of team members and other engineers;
Ensuring all newly integrated equipment follow & adhere to the laid down acceptance criteria;
Perform configuration and cross-connection changes on Network elements & S/W upgrades to meet network KPIs;
Take lead role in Analysis of network KPIs, logs and warnings and initiate corrective measures to resolve complaints and faults;

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills & competencies:
University degree in Electrical & Electronics engineering;
Detailed understanding of IP with Cisco certification;
Project Management certification will be an added advantage;
6 years working experience in Telecommunications with at least 2 years’ experience in 2nd line transmission support or planning within a busy Mobile Operator;
Experience in managing at least one major transmission project within a busy mobile operator; Good working practical knowledge &
understanding of transmission systems (TDM, Hydrid & IP); Good working knowledge of UNIX, Linux, Windows, Oracle and database systems;
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools; Analytical &
problem solving skills when handling faults; Must be able to work without supervision & meet tight deadlines/schedules;
Presentation skills required occasionally when initiating the use of new procedures & long-term Network fault solutions;
Proactive & self-motivated;
Good public relations, communication &
interpersonal skills when coordinating with contractor /other departments & suppliers.

Note: This position is located Western Region of Kenya and the offices are based in Kisumu-Kiboswa area.
