Inoorero University Driver

Inoorero University wishes to recruit mature, committed and self driven individual for the following position: 

Driver

Overall Purpose of the position: Performs work in the operation of a vehicle to ensure safe transportation of university personnel and students to and from various destinations as directed by the university and to assist them on entry and exit from vehicles as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive university personnel and students to various destination as assigned
  • Ensure compliance with traffic regulations and code
  • Collect and deliver material to required destinations and as per approved procedures
  • Ensure safety of passengers/goods in the vehicle and other university goods/property in possession
  • Ensure valid road taxes and licenses for vehicle
  • Ensure that the vehicle is good working condition.
  • Deliver mails and parcels as assigned as instructed.
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of the rules and regulations involved in the safe and efficient operation of automotive equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic automotive maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to deal effectively and patiently with others.
  • Ability to operate a van or small bus.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to operate lift equipment and to correctly secure wheelchairs and other mobility devices.
Professional Requirements
  • Employee must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must be 18 years of age or older, with a clean driving record, obtain a CDL (commercial drivers license) if necessary, ability to certify in special needs assistance training, defensive driver training, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and first aid.
  • Must take and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, as well as at random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol tests.
Educational Qualifications:
  • KCSE mean grade of D+ or its equivalent
Working Experience:
  • At least five years in work experience in the same position
  • Experience in the operation of large vehicles; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
