Job Role / Purpose
To provide accurate, timely, effective and efficient underwriting operations and decisions in line with risk assessments and business objectives

Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure that the rates and terms reflect the risk before acceptance
- Provide quotations for Corporate, Sacco and diaspora clients
- Sign policy documents and endorsements
- Issue refunds
- Prepare monthly reports on underwriting and customer service
- Mentor, coach and train junior underwriting staff to ensure all their work follows the guidelines
- Attend to Customer enquiries and queries from alternative distribution channels
- Advise line manager on any issue requiring their attention
- To ensure policy persistency is at the agreed level through constant feedback to clients
- To develop and support a responsive and robust customer service system and culture
- To develop and support a modern, responsive and robust operations and back office system and strategy for alternative distribution
- At least 5 papers ACII or IIK Diploma
- Good communication skills
- Customer care skills
- Consistent and decisive
- Good analytical skills
- Computer literate
- Leadership skills
- To Review and negotiate renewal terms at least one month before the renewal date of the policy
- To Ensure proper and effective management of tasks for the underwriting assistants and underwriting clerks
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Actuarial, Economics or Business related field
Professional Qualifications
- At least 5 papers ACII or IIK Diploma
Relevant Work Experience
- At least 5 years in underwriting exposure
