Advocate Vacancy in a Kenyan Law Firm

Our client, a law firm in Nairobi, is looking to fill the position of an Advocate
 
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
  • Attending court to file litigation documents and represent the firm as may be required from time to time
  • Handling correspondences on legal aspects and recommending appropriate legal actions
  • Participate in drawing and vetting commercial contracts, leases and other legal instruments.
  • Support investigations and maintain active liaison with security agencies to conclude investigations
  • Document legal activities and maintain an up-to-date legal actions and issues database for quick reference and guide to management
  • Other legal and related tasks as may be assigned from time to time
Required qualifications, skills and attributes
  • LLB degree from a recognized institution
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in active practice
  • At least 3-4 years experience in a similar position
  • Qualified or well exposed arbitrator with proven negotiation skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel required)
  • Works well in an environment with firm deadlines; results oriented
  • Perform multiple tasks effectively
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical skills required
  • Capable of making timely, independent decisions while consulting as appropriate
  • Confident, courageous and persuasive in court and during negotiations
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Possess advanced skills in customer service as they relate to legal concepts and provides effective solutions
  • Ability to work long hours including weekends
  • Must be well organized , detail-oriented and personable with a professional demeanour
  • Excellent communication skill necessary to interact with other attorneys/lawyers and clients by both telephone and written correspondence
