Electrical Technician 
Notice is hereby given of a staffing opportunity for an electrical technician position in the Management and Consular Section of the Canadian High Commission in Kenya. Salary Range: Kshs. 796,931.00 – 1,146,583.00 (annual gross) plus social benefits

JOB SUMMARY 
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Maintenance & Operations, administers a program for the maintenance and repair of the electrical plant and equipment in the Chancery in Nairobi including generator, elevator, security lighting systems, fire alarm systems, low voltage distribution systems and develops and implements preventive maintenance routines while insuring that corrective work is actioned. Evaluates and implements replacement of minor equipment as required. Supervises and performed installations /repairs/ services of electrical and non-electrical items, including general maintenance and repairs. Administers the care and maintenance of the major and minor plant to ensure compliance with manufacturers specifications and Canadian safety regulations.

Essential Qualifications 
Education: 
Electrical and Electronic Engineering Diploma from a recognised institution Language Requirement: Ability to communicate fluently in English Knowledge:
Knowledge in preventive maintenance, breakdown and repairs of electrical equipment, switch gear and pumps
Sound knowledge of building management system
Good knowledge of electrical building safety regulations standards, testing, inspection and installation of electrical equipment and their related switch gear within a commercial building and office environment
Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience: At least 8 years experience in the maintenance and repair of the above-mentioned job summary
Work experience in maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment in a large building, like hotel or hospital
Ability: Ability to problem-solve (determine origin of electrical/ mechanical problem and corrections)
Ability to detect needs for preventive maintenance
Ability to monitor and supervise contractors
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions

Asset Qualifications 
Qualification: Ability to communicate in French and/or Swahili is an added advantage
Ability to establish a calendar of interventions
Ability to communicate effectively
Knowledge: Knowledge in preventive maintenance, breakdown and repairs of generators, central air-conditionings and chillers
Knowledge of welding, plumbing and mechanical trades
Knowledge of installation of household and office equipment and furniture
Knowledge of Canadian safety regulations Condition[s] of employment
Ability to obtain the required Reliability Status (security check)
Kenyan citizenship or valid work permit
Medical clearance
Valid driver’s licence
Must be willing and able to carry tools, equipment and furniture when required
Must be willing and able to work on overtime and be on duty on weekends and holidays on a rotational basis
