Adverts for the Assisted Partner Notification Services (APS) STUDY

Assisted Partner Notification Services which is a partnership between the National AIDS and STI Control Program (NASCOP), Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), and the University of Washington is currently seeking qualified and competent persons to fill the following positions for a clinical trial about HIV.

Data Manager


1 Post

Applicant should be a holder of at least Bachelor of Science in bio/statistics or related field.

Previous experience in a similar position will be an added advantage.
 
Reporting to: Study Co-coordinator, the successful candidate will be expected to:-
  • Be responsible for creating clinical database templates and tabulating program data
  • Generate the required monthly and quarterly reports for APS
  • Ensure source documents are safeguarded and that optimal data quality is maintained.
  • Supervise the data entry team.
  • Maintain a clean log frame of data queries and how they have been resolved.
Please note that the appointment is on a one year contract term renewable on mutual agreement and availability of funds.

Assistant Data Manager

  • Assist the Data Manager in creating clinical database templates and tabulating program data
  • Generate the required monthly and quarterly reports for APS
  • Ensure source documents are safeguarded and that optimal data quality is maintained.
  • Maintain a clean log frame of data queries and how they have been resolved.
Please note that the appointment is on a one year contract term renewable on mutual agreement and availability of funds.

VCT Counsellors (12) 

Qualifications: 

For appointment to the post of VCT Counselor, a candidate must; 
  • Hold Certificate in Voluntary Counseling and Testing or HTC  from NASCOP
  • Hold at least a diploma in: psychology, sociology, Social Sciences, Community Work, Public Health, Nursing or other related fields.
  • Experience in Home-Based Counseling and Testing is desirable
  • Experience in social work and research projects will be an added advantage
  • Have at least  one year work experience in HTC service provision
  • Team player
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
Responsibilities will include
  • Screen and enroll eligible HIV positive partners tested at the VCT site
  • Be responsible for follow up of sexual partners identified by either home visits or phone calls
  • Capable of performing HTC during home visits for the sexual partners
  • Ensure they are conversant with the protocol and Standard operation procedures of the study
  • To provide on-going counseling and make relevant referrals for on-going support including Home Based Care, medical clinics, TB clinics, support groups, post test clubs to mention etc.
  • Documentation of clinic, home visits and phone calls on source documents and CRFs
  • Safeguard source documents and CRFs  and ensure data quality
  • Involved in community engagement activities and meetings on APS
  • Prepare reports on weekly, monthly and quarterly to the  Study coordinator
  • To meet the agreed targets
  • Any other duties as directed by study coordinator

Assistant Study Coordinator 

(Kisumu)

A career interest in HIV/STI research and training is strongly preferred.

The successful applicant will be responsible for supervision of study sites within Western and Nyanza, collection and analysis of data.

S/he must be able to work with minimal supervision and be ready to work long hours when necessary.
 
Qualifications:
  • Be a Kenyan Registered Community Nurse, public health training is an added advantage
  • Registration with the  Nursing council of Kenya
  • At least 2 years experience in clinical research
  • Certification in Human Subjects Protection and Good Clinical Practice
  • Demonstrate ability to plan, lead, coordinate, and accomplish research activities
  • Strong analytic, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to travel to different study sites in Western and Nyanza Provinces
Responsibilities will include:
  • Training staff at multiple field sites in Kenya
  • Managing study ethics and human subjects protection
  • Database development and management
  • Oversight of study implementation at VCT sites in Western and Nyanza Kenya
  • Preparation of research reports
