CLMC Managing Director Vacancy


Christian Learning Materials Centre (CLMC) is a project of Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA). It was established in 1981 with the mandate of enhancing Christian education and discipleship through development of materials for enhancing and promoting Christian education and discipleship at all levels (children, youth and adults). CLMC has been instrumental in developing Sunday school and other learning materials, some of which have been translated into Kiswahili, French and other indigenous African languages.

The organization seeks to recruit a Managing Director who will be responsible for leading, directing, developing and managing the implementation of all aspects of CLMC’s programmes and operations. The company is looking for a person with the ability and drive to develop it into a leading Christian publishing house in Africa. The position reports to the Board of Directors.

Major Responsibilities:
Provide strong and strategic leadership to the company: guide the development and ensure timely implementation of strategic and business plans.
Ensure the development of the organization’s business in a proactive manner and prudent management of the company’s financial and non-financial resources.
Build and maintain strong and productive relationships with the churches, business community, Government, the leadership of the AEA and its affiliates, and other stakeholders.  
Direct, manage, and develop staff, and maintain a robust and enabling work environment that attract and retain motivated, skilled, competent and committed people.  
Ensure effective risk management and protection of the company’s assets and other resources.  
Foster a culture which promotes good corporate governance.
Responsible for overall day-to-day operations of the company.

Qualifications and Experience:
At least a Masters degree in Education/Christian Education or any other related field.
At least seven (7) years experience in the education sector at senior management position. Experience in publishing will be an added advantage.
Knowledge of business and management particularly in the publishing and printing sector
Must possess proficiency in computer application packages.

Behavioural Competencies:
Must be a born again Christian who is actively involved in Christian ministry.
Must possess strong leadership skills.
Must have good interpersonal skills with ability to build personal relationships and relate with a broad spectrum of church leaders, supporting partners, business community, senior government officials and leaders at all levels.
Must have developed good multi cultural orientation and strong public relations skills.
Must possess strong communication, negotiation, and administration skills.
Working knowledge of French would be an added advantage.
