VACANCY: Program Officer for Monitoring and Evaluation- AWARD

The World Agroforestry Centre is an independent research institution which generates science-based knowledge about the complex role trees play in agricultural landscapes and rural livelihoods. The Centre’s headquarters are located in Nairobi, which also hosts the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) project of the CGIAR Gender and Diversity Program.

AWARD is a pioneering project to boost the talent pool of African women in the agricultural sciences. AWARD delivers career development fellowships to hundreds of women in agricultural institutions throughout sub-Saharan Africa.  The project covers 11 countries:, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.

About this position

The M&E Program Officer will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation and management of AWARD’s monitoring tools, procedures and surveys to assess the project’s outcomes and impacts as defined in AWARD’s Theory of Change.

Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the AWARD team with the design and implementation of data collection tools and approaches to assess the success of AWARD in meeting key project outputs, outcomes, and impacts.
Collate M&E data from numerous project partners and produce quarterly summary reports.
Assist in annual meetings with project stakeholders throughout Africa to collect and verify data records.

Conduct quality control and consolidation of all M&E data, ensuring error-free entry into well-designed spreadsheets and AWARD’s Information Management System.
Analyze AWARD’s M&E data using appropriate tools, to produce reliable and relevant progress reports and summary statistics.
Act as the key contact person for all M&E data and information, ensuring a clear, organized, and up-to-date archive to allow for easy access to key information by AWARD staff.
Assist the AWARD team in producing and sharing of M&E findings and evidence with relevant stakeholders to support discussions and decisions on how to re-direct interventions as appropriate.
Assist the AWARD team in using M&E data for advocacy and resource mobilisation and overall strengthening of AWARD.
 
Skills and qualifications required
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in information management or related field, with substantial monitoring and evaluation experience and/or data/information management.
Demonstrable ability to consolidate information from multiple sources, with a meticulous workstyle and strong attention to detail.
At least five years of experience in working in a challenging, fast-paced, and preferably multicultural team.
Demonstrated experience with quantitative and qualitative research processes.
Superior computer skills with demonstrable advanced mastery of MS Office 2007 or later, and in particular Excel 2007, including the design and use of pivot tables and other advanced spreadsheet tools. Working knowledge of SPSS would be a major advantage.
Strong English written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate information effectively to various audiences.
Ability to work productively in a fast-paced team environment and capacity to exercise influence with colleagues respectfully and effectively.
A keen interest in agricultural development and/or gender issues would be an asset.
