We are seeking to recruit a Systems Administrator for our IT Department.

The Systems Administrator reports to the IT Business Systems Manager.


Job Responsibilities
  • Performing defined systems administration functions across servers and desktops;
  • Providing first line technical support to users in a mixed Mac/PC desktop and server environment;
  • Maintaining systems backup, security and contingency plans to ensure continuity and availability of business systems;
  • Maintaining an inventory schedule of all IT equipment and software as required;
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure maximum systems availability;
  • Meeting or exceeding the set Service Level Agreement KPIs;
  • Ensuring change management, system alterations and enhancements are controlled and in line with laid down ISO procedures and ICT best practice;
  • Playing an active role to ensure successful implementation of ICT projects; and
  • Training end users on the various applications to maximize utilization of ICT resources.
Technical Skills
  • Degree in Information Technology or equivalent
  • SCSAS or SCSA Sun Solaris Unix Certification or equivalent Unix certification
  • Business Objects Certified Professional–Crystal Reports (BOCP-CP) or equivalent training
  • Sybase ASE Administrator Professional or MCDBA Certification
  • Knowledge of Symantec Netbackup.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in supporting UNIX and Sybase or SQL databases
  • Knowledge of publishing and prepress systems/workflows an added advantage.
