Head of Risk/Internal Audit

Ref RJK 1

Directly accountable to the Audit Committee of the Board and with a dotted line responsibility to the Group Chief Executive Officer on day to day work and general conduct, the post hold will lead the internal Audit/Risk Management function for the Company.

Key result areas:-
  • People leadership: Lead a highly professional and committed internal audit team while overseeing service delivery standards by the external Audit teams in line with the overall business strategy;
  • Risk analysis & Mitigation: Assess/analyses contingent/potential business risks in any of the operational projects/initiatives and advise management on risk mitigation strategies through creation of audit checks and balances;
  • Stakeholder contracts: Review stakeholder contracts/agreements and reports and ensure that there is strict adherence to agreed standards and guidelines;
  • Supply Chain Management: Undertake the supply chain systems, performance and internal controls audit, review and follow up supply schedules in order to ensure compliance with Capex and Opex budgets and optimize supplier terms in costs savings and secure seamless materials supply lead times dependability;
  • M&E: Build a robust Monitoring and evaluation Audit system that involves preparation of controls and regular monitoring routines of the annual budget to ensure operations are within/optimize the approved budgetary allocation and controls for each Department;
  • Conduct special audits: and /or conduct spot audits on a needs basis and raise necessary audit issues for immediate address by management; Carry out credit reviews and risks to evaluate all aspects of credit administration and loan servicing including concession fee payments to determine whether or not whether the fees payment schedules and loans/facilities are being administered on a sound agreement terms/credit basis; and
  • Revenue assurance Audit: Review monthly returns from all revenue streams to ensure that pertinent issues arising are addressed by respective Departments.
Skill Sets, Education and experience requirements:
  • A degree in Accountancy or a business related field, plus a professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA,ACA or other recognised professional qualification with at least three years post qualification work experience;
  • Be a certified Internal auditor;
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience ,three of which should have been in a senior management position with sound knowledge of multi-currency consolidation and reporting, preferably acquired in medium to large sized organizations;
  • Sound knowledge and application of financial /auditing systems .Exposure to the ERP SAP will be added advantage;
  • Exposure to the Suburn Oxley audit system or other related system would also be added advantage;
  • Strong inquisitive , modelling , analytical, problem solving, reporting and communication skills; and
  • Meticulous and ability to work to tight deadlines.
Mechanical Engineer

Ref RJK 2 (2 positions)

Reporting to the General Manager, Mechanical Department, the jobholder will be the technical expert in specific mechanical engineering areas in our various workshops and technical workstations spread out across the Company operations.

Key result areas:-
  • Developing and managing the general and preventive maintenance scheduling routines;
  • Generating information to support the improvement of the maintenance programs;
  • Originating, obtaining and managing budgets for capital expenditure and consumables required Project managing specific high value investments mechanical engineering projects and assignments;
  • Executing the assets and equipment maintenance plans and schedules;
  • Maintaining up-to-date statistics of the bulk transport assets and other resources;
  • Ensuring compliance with established quality standards and specifications; and
  • Maximizing staff performance through team leadership.
Skill Sets, Education and experience requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering from a recognized university ;
  • Registration with the Engineers Registration Board;
  • At least three (3) years’ work experience specifically with heavy equipment in a mechanical or electrical engineering field in a technical position in the manufacturing industry and/or big equipment maintenance roles; Management experience will be an added advantage;
  • Knowledge of Statutory regulations covering Mechanical &Electrical Engineering,
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Computer packages and /or with a variety of other IT based tools and ERP’s will be added advantage;
  • Demonstrable initiative and drive to analyse and resolve problems;
  • Must possess good Communication and report writing skills;
  • Must be astute at team leadership especially planning, organizing and work structuring.
Civil Engineer

Ref RJK 3 (3 Positions)

Reporting to the General Manager, Mechanical Department the job holder will lead from over all civil and structural engineering works and projects as per the departments work plans.

Key Result areas:
  • Responsible for all civil engineering Works in a designated area;
  • Control of resources both labor and material in a designated area;
  • In charge of various civil works projects;
  • Undertake structural calculations;
  • Provide professional input into civil engineering capital projects;
  • Preparation of detailed engineering specifications for works being executed;
  • Carry out designs and prepare detailed engineering estimates for any capital projects.
Skill Sets, Education and experience requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university ;
  • Registration with the Engineers Registration Board;
  • At least two (2) years’ work experience specifically in road construction and/or building construction industry or heavy structural engineering projects works (especially structural calculations) and in a managerial position;
  • Knowledge of Statutory regulations covering civil Engineering,
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Computer packages and /or with a variety of other IT based tools and ERP’s will be added advantage;
  • Demonstrable initiative and drive to analyse and resolve problems;
  • Must possess good Communication and report writing skills;
  • Be an astute Manager particularly at planning, organising, work structuring and team other leadership skills.
Business Unit Leaders

Ref RJK 4 (CARGO- 4 posts)

Reporting to Head of Commercial and Marketing, the job holders will be responsible for profitable revenue generation by securing contract and service level agreements with customers on sale of space for cargo transport as per the set sales revenue, margin and volume targets.

Key Result Areas:
  • Manage the business unit sale of assets per route/destination and meet set sales targets by bulk tonnage, margin and routes schedules;
  • Develop operational marketing strategies and market intimacy routines so as to improve the efficiency of the unit in growing revenues through excellent customer service;
  • Develop new business streams, grow and sustain existing business as per set targets in the annual business plans for own business unit;
  • Segment the market by establishing sustainable service level agreements for key accounts while creating customer relationships and networks to attract and retain other customers for bulk haulage;
  • Ensure sound management of customer deposits accounts and revenue collection targets;
  • Work collaboratively with the asset planning Department to develop the asset utilisation schedules and plans;
  • Manage to meet and exceed the customer agreed Company standard on asset turnaround time at both the Customer sites and the Company’s’ storage sites;
  • Prepare periodic asset line operating & commercial reports in line with established reporting standards;
  • Participate and contribute to the annual budget exercise for the department.
  • Lead to highly motivate a disciplined and result focused team of customer facing staff in own business stream area.
Skill Sets, Education and experience requirements:
  • University degree in a business oriented field (business administration, Marketing etc.) from a recognized institution. A post graduate diploma in the relevant commercial field will be an added advantage;
  • Profession membership in a Marketing Society or other relevant professional body;
  • At least 4 years’ experience in marketing in the transport industry or other sales and marketing experience in a busy demanding commercial environment at a senior level management position.
  • A good understanding of the logistics and transport business, especially bulk transport contract design and management;
  • Excellent customer orientation, team working, negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft computer packages especially power point and excel and internet services.
Account Development Managers

Ref RJK 5 (5 posts)

Reporting to the Business Unit leader within the respective asset stream, the jobholder will be responsible for building and dynamic developing relationships with the customers in the bulk transport sector. This role will combine business development and selling.

Key Result areas:
  • Managing the assigned customer segments so as to ensure that tonnage sales targets are met on a weekly basis;
  • Prospecting for new business, pitching for business and signing contracts;
  • Adherence to the freight planning and execution schedules;
  • Engaging customers so as to identify untapped transportation business opportunities and to grow volume and value;
  • Ensure cash/revenue collections as per set targets weekly;
  • Identifying customer requirements that fall outside the current service range and communicating these to management for action;
  • Providing just in time after sales customer information on asset handling and release;
  • Preparing sales volume reports for own area;
  • Negotiating customer agreements on asset turnaround time within the approved company standard /guideline; Undertaking operational market surveys and gathering intelligence to gauge prevailing competitor freight charges ;and
  • Supervise and motivate a team of highly client facing staff in own target achievement responsibility area.
Skill Sets, Education and experience requirements:
  • A university degree and relevant professional qualifications such as CIM;
  • Three to five years’ experience, preferably in the transportation sector;
  • Commercial acumen and sale closing ability;
  • Strong commercial awareness in respect to the transport and logistics sector;
  • Strong negotiation, relationship building, team playing and interpersonal skills; and
  • Excellent customer orientation, team working, oral and written/presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft computer packages.
Cost Accountant

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the potholder will be responsible for cost accounting management for the business

Key Results areas:
  • Preparing cost control and review schedules for all holding companies ;
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual group consolidated cost reports;
  • Providing ad hoc/special reports in project costs and cost projections in response to information requests by Board, lenders, management;
  • Conducting monthly reviews of the operating units costs;
  • Supporting quarterly and year-end cost audits by liaising with external auditors; and
  • Providing cost control schedules on actuals vs. budget scenarios via a timely cost monitoring routine.
Skill Sets, Education and experience requirements:
  • A degree in Accountancy or a business related field, plus a professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, with at least two years post qualification work experience;
  • At least 2-3 years of relevant working experience and sound knowledge of multicurrency onsolidation and reporting, preferably acquired in medium to large sized organizations;
  • Sound knowledge of cost control modelling and excellent use of spread sheets;
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel, major accounting ERP ;
  • Strong inquisitive, modelling, analytical, problem solving, reporting and communication skills; and
  • Meticulous and ability to work to tight deadlines.
After Sales Manager

Reporting to the Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer, the job holder will be responsible for entire after sales management cycle for the company by asset/business stream, route and Customer segment.

Key Results areas:
  • Manage the customer care program;
  • Day today communication with customers;
  • Manage the timely cross boarder cargo clearance; and
  • Lead the Customer satisfaction survey routine.
Skill Sets, Education and experience requirements:
  • Minimum University Degree in Marketing or relevant field;
  • 3 years relevant work experience in management position preferable in logistics and transport;
  • Have excellent Customer orientation skill;
  • Good teamwork, coordinate, oral written and communication skills;
  • Must possess excellent computer skills especially Microsoft packages and ability to work; with the ERP SAP or procession of other transferable skills will be added advantage; and
  • Willingness and ability to work long hours in a demanding fast paced work environment.
Market Intelligence Analyst

Reporting to the Business Analysis& Control Manager, the job holder will be responsible for collecting, collating and presenting competitor data for use by management.

Key Results areas:
  • Conduct market intelligence to enable benchmarking of company competition and market share;
  • Advice on pricing;
  • Establish a process of responding to competitor trends/indicators and behaviours;
  • Prepare and execute consumer surveys and reports to identify consumer needs and perceptions;
  • Conduct market surveys and research to achieve seamless products/service for the benefit of customers; and
  • Prepare and execute ad hoc surveys to provide information for effective decision making.
Skill Sets, Education and experience requirements:
  • University graduate in Marketing or equivalent;
  • 3 years related working experience;
  • Sound knowledge and experience in research methodologies and tools;
  • Computer literate;
  • Statistical knowledge and analytical abilities; and
  • Good writing, communication and presentation skills.
HR Business Partner

Talent Amangement Ref RJK 9

Reporting to the General Manager, Talent Management, and the ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating the Talent management routines and processes in the business.

Key Result areas:
  • Support the training and development plans as per the people development plan;
  • Coordinate the annual talent management calendar and routines in line with the requirements of the talent management program;
  • Co-ordinate the Performance management system routines for the business ;
  • Coordinate and where necessary train line management and staff in the PM systems’ methodology and tools;
  • Prepare and circulate Human Resource dashboard indicators and performance ratings and measurements to line management;
  • Ensure that Mentoring and coaching program activities are in alignment with the talent management program objectives;
  • Ensure the implementation of an effective on- boarding process across the business;
  • Coordinate the succession planning routines and activities to meet organization management succession needs;
  • Participate in the preparation and monitoring of the talent sourcing, training and development budget to ensure effective investment in the talent;
  • Conduct role profiling and document them as per the company’s’ job analysis methodology;
  • Coordinate the Recruitment and training schedules and programs;
  • Maintain updated organization structures for each Department; and
  • Prepare and update within the ERP system, monthly recruitment and internal staff movement logs and other talent management related Human Capital data needs.
Skill Sets, Education and experience requirements:
  • Minimum University Graduate in Social Sciences preferably in Human Resources;
  • Be registered member of a recognised HR professional body;
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management would be added advantage;
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in a management position, preferably in a commercial environment or busy HR professional firm;
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, interpersonal & presentation skills;
  • Organisational, planning & Analytical Skills; and
  • Proficiency in the use of IT especially Microsoft packages word, excel and power point. Exposure to E-recruiting and other best practice capability assessment tools will be added advantage.
