KPLC Drivers, Legal Officer, Safety officer, electrical engineer and communication jobs in Kenya

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified persons
for the following vacancies in Kenya Power.


1.  CHIEF CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER  (1 Post)
JOB REF. – HR: KP1/5CB/456

Reporting to the Deputy Manager, Corporate Communications,
Chief Corporate Communications Officer will be allocated the
following duties among others:
•     Develop and implement effective internal and external
communications strategies covering various aspects of the
business.
•     Advise on, and produce, supplementary material to support
strategy.
•     Commission and supervise products design.
•     Plan, write and produce corporate publications and public
relations copy in support of a range of initiatives (e.g. annual
reports, internal and external newsletters, speeches, etc).
•     Manage and supervise the corporate messages and images
(corporate identity) to reflect the Company’s brand and
corporate identity manual, ensuring that they are used and
applied consistently across all platforms; including sub-
brands.
•     Regularly measure and track the Company’s reputation
and brand and advise management on strategies for
improvement.


•     Plan, supervise, implement and evaluate the Company’s
annual corporate social responsibility activities; and
manage the Company’s long-term sustainability strategy.
•     Supervise various communication teams and strategies
including digital, internal, external, and corporate social
responsibility.
•     Ensure attainment of Departmental targets within set
budgets and time-lines.
•     Undertaking other tasks that may be assigned.
 

Appointment Requirements
Interested applicants must possess the following:-
•     Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public
Relations or other relevant field from recognised institutions.
•     Postgraduate diploma or a Masters degree in
Communications, Journalism, Public Relations; or any other
relevant field.
•     Nine (9) years relevant work experience, five (5) years of
which must have been at a senior position in Corporate
Communications, Public Relations or Journalism in a large
organisation.
•     Excellent English language writing skills.
•     Working knowledge of Kiswahili.
•     Be highly analytical, assertive and a team player


2.     SENIOR SAFETY OFFICER (1 Post)
JOB REF. – HR: KP1/5CB/3 - 457
Reporting to Manager, Safety, Health & Environment, the Senior
Safety Officer will perform the following duties among others:-
•     Participate in formulating and implementing occupational
safety & health policies, norms, guidelines and procedures.
•     Plan and coordinate the statutory safety & health issues on
Company’s worksites.
•     Participate in accident/incident investigations and follow
up on implementation of preventative actions.
•     Reviewing existing occupational safety & health practices
and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant
requirements and sector best practices.
•     Plan, organise and implement relevant occupational safety
and health activities and programmes that enhance the safe
work culture.
•     Liaising with divisions/departments to ensure
implementation of safe systems of work.
•     Provide expert advise and support on safety & health issues
to internal stakeholders.
•     Participating in budgeting and budgetary control for the
department.
•     Facilitate and participate in regular worksites audit and
inspections including contractors.
•     Monitoring existence, implementation and compliance to
Fire Risk Reduction programmes.
•     Ensure Emergency Preparedness & Response Plans are
sustained.
•     Carrying out occupational safety & health awareness
campaigns, review meetings, workplace health surveillance
and recommending improvements


Appointment Requirements

•     Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering from a
recognised institution
•     Post-graduate Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent
•     Registration as a Safety & Health Advisor
•     Management Development Course
•     7 years relevant work experience

•     IT User skills
•     Good interpersonal & communication skills

3.  LEGAL OFFICER (1 POST)
JOB REF. – HR: KP1/5CB/3 - 458

Reporting to Legal Services Manager, the Legal Officer will
perform the following duties:-
•     Participating in drawing and vetting contracts, leases and
other legal instruments to ensure statutory compliance.
•     Participating in large commercial transactions in Energy
matters, infrastructure investment and project agreements.
•     Drafting responses to queries and correspondence.
•     Liaising with Company witnesses and external advocates
on litigation matters.
•     Providing legal/opinion and reports on legal matters as may
be required.
•     Participating in tender evaluation to facilitate procurement.
•     Participating in Divisional Tender Evaluation.
•     Compiling evidence and other information on cases and
forwarding to external lawyers.
•     Compiling reports on legal matters.
•     Keeping safe custody of legal documents and other
securities.
•     Participating in resolving disputes with customers and
other parties.
•     Undertaking other tasks that may be assigned.


Appointment Requirements
Interested applicants must possess the following:-
•     Bachelor of Law Degree.
•     Post-graduate Diploma in Law.
•     Management Development Course.
•     Training in Energy Law.
•     Be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
•     Be a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
•     5 years relevant work experience as a Legal Officer.
•     IT User skills.
•     Good interpersonal & communication skills.
•     Be assertive and a team player.


4.  ASSISTANT ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, TECHNICAL
STANDARDS (1 Post)

JOB REF. – HR: KP1/5CB/3 - 459

Reporting to the Senior Engineer (Technical Standards &
Specifications), the Assistant Electrical Engineer, Technical
Standards will perform the following duties:-
•     Developing technical specifications for materials and
equipment to meet Kenya Power system requirements and
International Standards.
•     Participating in factory inspection/audit prior to
manufacture of equipment and materials to ensure quality
products.
•     Participating in factory acceptance testing of materials
and equipment to certify proper quality prior to shipment/
delivery to Company stores.
•     Participating in evaluation of tenders.
•     Evaluating technical drawings and technical data for
approval to facilitate the manufacture of materials and
equipment on order by the Company.
•     Carrying out random sampling at Kenya Power stores and
arranging test of materials and equipment at accredited
testing laboratories to ascertain their quality.
•     Undertaking other tasks that may be assigned.
 

Appointment Requirements
Interested applicants must possess the following:-
•     Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a
recognised University.
•     Registered Graduate Engineer with Kenya Engineers
Registration Board (KERB).
•     At least eight (8) years relevant  work experience in
Standardization, Testing and Technical Evaluation in the
Electrical field.
•     IT User skills.
•     Good interpersonal & communication skills.
•     Assertive and team player. 


5.  LOGGER/FORKLIFT OPERATOR

6.  ARTICULATED DRIVERS     
JOB REF. – HR: KP1/5CB/3 - 461 

The Company requires qualified candidates to operate both
Loggers/Forklifts and Articulated Truck Drivers to work within
Kenya Power’s expanding stores.
Duties of the Logger/Forklift Operators will include loading and
unloading of materials from the trucks and moving materials
within the Stores and premises as instructed. The Operators may
also be required to operate other vehicles.


Appointment Requirements
Interested applicants must possess the following:-
•     KCSE D+ (Plus) and above or comparable educational
qualification.
•     Valid Driving License Class BCE & Special Type.
•     Five (5) years continuous driving experience. Possession
of Special Type training and/or experience in the specific
machines will be an added advantage.
•     Certificate of Good Conduct
