Deputy Managing Director Vacancy in Kenya - MBA jobs


Our client is a leading multi-national company with Africa operations in the insurance and asset management business arena. 

They have great market diversification and over 17 affiliates; providing long term savings, investment, protection and insurance products for corporates and high net worth individuals. 

Our client is looking for a seasoned individual to take up an Executive position of Deputy Managing Director for Kenya.
 
The key focus of this role is to individually be accountable for translating and implementing the overall leadership and vision set by the Kenya CEO and ensuring that the strategy of the business is implemented in alignment to the Africa strategy through the effective leadership of the EXCOM team.
 
The Deputy Managing Director is a Manager of Managers and will be expected to be a seasoned leader, with an exceptional track record of achieving results through teams.

Academic Qualification and Experience requirement
 
MBA or Masters of Commerce, preferable a Minimum of 10 years relevant Financial Services experience at Senior Management level.
 
Role Description
  • Takes co- responsibility for strategic direction of the overall Business, including all operational components of Finance, HR, Risk, IT, Programme Office and Compliance.
  • Sets direction for the Business
  • Takes accountability for implementing the business plan
  • Assists with the management of profitability of the business (bottom line responsibility).
  • Manages external relationships and influences industry bodies.
  • Manages risk and compliance
  • Ensures the management of overall expenses, including cost reductions
  • Ensures operational effectiveness across all businesses and departments
Key Result Areas include:
 
Management Effectiveness
  • Manages staff and aligns staff performance contracts to business plans
  • Leads team to optimize delivery
  • Holds first line managers accountable for managerial work, including selection, performance management and talent management.
Governance & Compliance
  • Ensures clean audit, risk and compliance reports
  • Embeds risk and governance framework in business
Operational Efficiency
  • Sets direction for the Business
  • Takes accountability for the business plan
  • Integrates delivery and metrics across the people, process, finance and client dimensions
  • Delivers on strategic projects as required
Service Delivery Management
  • Retains and maintains existing business through other managers and their teams.
  • Implements strategies and initiatives to increase service delivery.
  • Drives operational excellence throughout area of supervision.
  • Defines and implements best operating practice in client services.
  • Defines performance parameters (including balanced scorecard) and measurements for area under supervision.
Budget Control
  • Manages overall expenses, including cost reductions.
Stakeholder Management
  • Manages external relationships and influences industry bodies.
