Position : Field Logistician
Responsible to: Field Coordinator – North Eastern province
Location: Dadaab Closing date: 25th May, 2012

THE POSITION
Under the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator -NEP and the technical link with the Programme Logistics Manager (PLM), the Field Logistician is responsible for planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring and reporting on all logistics activities in HI Dadaab.
He/she is responsible for
1. Management of the procurement chain
2. Managing the Store
3. Contribute to the Administrative management
• Assigning and delegating duties to drivers, office support staff and casuals.
4. Managing Contracts
• Formulating all service contracts and ensuring that they conform to HI Guidelines and
subsequent donor requirement.
5. Managing the vehicle fleet
• Organising allocation and availability of vehicles for Dadaab office official movement
by preparing a weekly schedule.
6. Managing the Equipment
• Being responsible to all HI equipment, its allocation and utilisation in Dadaab Office
and in the camps.
7. Management of security by
• Ensuring that adequate security regulations are in place in the Field as well as the
compliance with the security plan and rules.
• Ensure coordination woth security stakeholders in North east province
8. Line Manage the teams in your area of activity
• Supervising Logistics assistants or any other casual that may be employed to assist in
Logistics activity.
• Contributing to Financial management
9. North East province responsibilities
• Supervising Logistics assistants In Garissa Base
• Ensure coordination of logistics between Daadab and Garissa.
• Ensure coordination of logistics, movements between Daadab and Nairobi
Qualifications and skills required
• Degree in Purchasing and Supplies Management
• Candidates with a Diploma in supply chain/logistics/purchasing management with
a minimum of 5 years experience may be considered
• Diploma level 4 in Purchasing and supply preferred
• Proficiency in Ms Office.
• Knowledge of basic motor vehicle management.
• At least three years experience with Humanitarian organization operation,
preferably in emergency context
• Good in English language both written and spoken.
• Must possess a valid driving license with at least 3 yrs experience.
• In-depth knowledge of equipment management.
• Member of Kenya Institute of Supply Management
