KENIC Technical Assistant job in Kenya

KeNIC (Kenya Network Information Centre) is a not for profit organization  mandated to operate and manage the .KE ccTLD.
We are seeking  a Technical Assistant who will be reporting to the Technical manager on a contractual term of 3 months, subject to renewal.
Role: Responsible for offering support to the Technical Manager in provision of a management system that enables the company to gather, process and disseminate information accurately and in a timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare daily reports and any other report on incidents that have occurred.
  • Register new clients as per company policy.
  • Update the organization website.
  • Monitor and action on the ticketing system promptly.
  • Monitor, configure and trouble shoot organization servers.
  • Monitor the network and Internet connection.
  • Provide staff with technical assistance.
  • Promptly answer to customer queries.
  • Conduct or assist in the training of clients.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the Technical Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Technology or any other IT related field, 
  • Experience in Open Source Software would be an added advantage
  • Minimum working experience of two years  in IT.
  • Networking knowledge, Linux, Programming, CCNA, ITIL, A+, Database MYSQL, PostgreSQL or any other certification would be desirable.
  • Proficiency in Scripting languages (PHP, Bash scripting, CSS, Java or Jquery), html and Python
  • Knowledge and Implementation of new IT trends
