Project Coordinator Vacancy - Judicial Performance Improvement Project


Project Coordinator
The Government of Kenya (GoK) has applied for financing from the World Bank to finance the proposed Judicial Performance Improvement Project (JPIP), and intends to apply part of the proceeds of the financing to put together a Project Management Unit (PMU) comprising a team of professionals dedicated to planning and implementing the Project. The Judiciary now invites
applications for the position of a Project Coordinator for the JPIP.

Overall Responsibility
The Project Coordinator will be reporting to Project Director/Deputy Chief Registar.
The overall responsibility of the Project Coordinator is to take the lead in managing the JPIP, particularly in initiating, coordinating, and advancing the implementation of project activities to
ensure that they are all successfully completed, and that the project is executed in a way that achieves the stated Project Development Objectives and its results.

The Coordinator would also ensure that activities are in line with the orientations and decisions of the Technical Committee, and in compliance with the Project Financing Agreement, procurement and financial management requirements, and other guidelines and procedures of IDA applicable to IDA borrowers.

Qualifications and Experience
The candidate must have:-
    A Masters Degree from an accredited University in Business, Economics, Commerce, Social Development or other relevant fields.
    At least ten (10) years of relevant experience in project design, implementation and management;
    Excellent analytical and administrative skills as well as solid writing and communications abilities.
    Proven capacity for intellectual and operational leadership, including strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to build, manage and work in a team.
    Knowledge of Kenya and local institutional processes, including financial and procurement procedures of the Government and the World Bank.
    Demonstrate a high degree of integrity, initiative, flexibility, judgment, reliability and ability to work without supervision.

Duration of the Contract

The overall duration of the assignment is 36 (thirty six) months renewable annually up to about 60 (sixty) months, each contract being full-time, starting on or about January 2013.
