EQUITY BANK JOBS IN KENYA - LEGAL JOBS

1. Head of Trade Finance 
The Position Reporting to the Director of Trade Finance, the role holder will be responsible for managing the trade finance department with overall responsibility of the P&L, Risk Management and compliance of trade finance products and services.

Key Responsibilities 
Manage the Trade Finance department with full. P&L and portfolio quality, accountability and responsibility Develop a high performance culture for all members of the team with clear measurable objectives Work with the relationship management and credit teams as well as the branch network to identify trade finance prospects and convert them to transactions in line with Banks need and global strategy. Leverage on the banks regional presence, large balance sheet and value chain expertise to structure trade finance solutions for clients Successfully negotiate and
close out pricing and other deal dynamics with client Oversee the quality & turnaround of trade finance applications and ensure faster delivery. Work with Credit, Treasury and other departments in structuring transactions Oversee Trade Finance operations to ensure strict adherence to bank and regulator policies and procedures. Ensure continuous quality training for department staff.

 Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience 
Business related degree from a recognized University Over 5 years working experience in Trade Finance, of which 3 years must have been at management level
Track record in innovatively structuring trade finance solutions
Proven track record in achieving targets
Holders of professional qualifications will have an added advantage

2. Assistant Manager- Legal Services 
The Position The role holder will be responsible for providing legal advice in the area of documentation, recovery and other legal advisory services.

Key Responsibilities 
Review and vet facility letters, agreements, security and other legal documents for corporate borrowing customers.
Instruct and liaise with the Bank’s external lawyers on various matters including non-standard form facility and security documents.
Conduct legal compliance checks prior to disbursement of approved credit facilities to ensure legal documentations are in compliance with statutory requirements; the approved terms and conditions stipulated and confirm conformity of credit facilities with approved collateral margin requirements.
Attend EXCO meetings to take minutes and give legal advice on facility and security documents and structures when required.
Attend Board Credit committee and ventilate measures taken to mitigate legal risks and guarantee protection of the bank’s interest on applications presented for board approval
Provide documentation and support for the development of new credit products.
Prepare IegaI queries and facilitate solicitation of legal opinions from external counsel to identify legal and regulatory risks and issues.
Provide legal advice in connection with the Credit function of the bank generally and liaise with external legal counsel on legal matters relating to credit.
Instruct external lawyers and follow up to conclusion all litigation instituted for and against the bank relating to debt collection.
Recommend cases for write off where recovery through litigation has proved futile.

Candidate’s Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience 
A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized university
Post Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law
Certificate of Admission to the Roll of Advocates of the High Court of Kenya
Possess current year’s practicing certificate
At least 7 years experience in a commercial bank or a busy law firm acting for banks and financial institutions;
Knowledge of court rules and procedures;

Must be hands on in interpretation and application of legal texts and statutes
Proactive and self motivated
Excellent interpersonal skills

 3. Legal Officer (Kenya) 
The Position
The role holder will, be responsible for providing Legal advice to the Bank in the area of compliance, documentation, recovery and other legal advisory services.

Key Responsibilities 
 Drafting and vetting of legal contracts and service level agreements Providing legal advice, briefings, recommendations and reports to support business growth Ensuring external legal activities and engagements are coordinated and effective Liaising with the Banks external legal advisors, legal counsel and legal service providers
Assist in managing the legal transactions, cases and issues of the Bank Draft and review templates & standard forms for facility, MOUs and security documents and agreements to be used in connection with new products to be launched by the Bank.

Candidate’s Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience 
A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) qualification from a recognized university
Certificate of Admission to the Roll of Advocates
Possess the current year’s practicing certificate
At least 4 years post admission work experience in a commercial bank involved in retail and corporate lending or a busy law firm acting for banks and financial institutions;
Knowledge of court rules and procedures;

Good communication, presentation, research and analytical skills
Must be hands on in interpretation and application of legal texts and statutes
Proactive and self motivated
Excellent interpersonal skills Team player.
Good financial analytical skills
Able to demonstrate excellent organizational skills

The Position The role holder will be responsible for providing legal advice to the Bank in the area of compliance, documentation, recovery and other Legal advisory services.

Key Responsibilities 
Responsible for all legal matters associated with the bank.
Ensuring statutory and contractual compliance by the bank.
Drafting and vetting of legal contracts and service level agreements.
Managing the legal risk of the bank.
