TRANSPORT AND CUSTOMS OFFICER JOB IN KENYA - MSF

Organization: MSF OCA - Nairobi Supply Centre

Position: Transport and Customs Officer

Unit: Logistics

Duty Station: Nairobi

Purpose of the position

To successfully process transport and custom related operations for MSF OCA Nairobi Supply Centre.


Major Duties and Responsibilities

Customs:



Be responsible for the preparation of import/export and transit documents following the Kenya customs regulation and laws.
Receive international cargo and process outbound cargo from Nairobi to regional MSF missions;
Liaise with the field in regards to export documents and make sure the documents are endorsed on time;
Manage MSF interests (in the TG and others) through stock inventories and monitoring of stock requests;
Maintain an update guideline of customs procedures in Kenya;
Liaise with relevant authorities concerning custom and transport issues;
Together with the General Manager is the overall responsible for all customs issues;

Transport:

Receive and process transport request
Take the overall responsibility of loading and offloading trucks at the warehouse
Responsible for the necessary paperwork (freight manifest, packing lists, insurance, donation certificates, etc.);
Receive, check and forward transport related invoices.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Proven experience in transport & custom management, preferably within humanitarian organizations
Sound knowledge of customs procedures, applicable laws and regulations;
Demonstrable familiarity with the KRA and related laws, procedures and practices;
Confirmed knowledge of KAA and KPA procedures, regulations and related laws;
Strong negotiation skills and diplomatic attitude;
Excellent computer skills mainly in Microsoft office (word, xls and access);
Well organized and able to prioritize workload, using initiative when appropriate;
Able to cope with stress;
