COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
Location: NairobiTerms: Permanent
Reports to: Deputy Vice Chancellor Planning and Development
Job Summary
The Communications Director will coordinate production of all publications, ensuring a strong and
consistent identity internally and externally.
Coordinate marketing efforts for the University. He/she will oversee all printed materials and manage
the content and design of the University web site. The office is also responsible for highlighting
campus events and happenings through other available media. The Office will form networks with
media representatives and other available media to create awareness of the University's academic
programs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop and implement communication strategy and policy
• Develop and sustain media relations, alumni relations, and communication to all stakeholders
• Work closely with NIST /ILU management in the release of information to internal and
external stakeholders
• Oversee production of all print, audio and visual promotional and publicity materials
• Manage website content in consultation with relevant stakeholders
• Manage NIST/ILU events
• Market NIST/ILU academic programs
Qualifications
• Born again Christian aged at least 30 years
• A master of Arts degree in Public Relations, Communications, or a related field
Skills and Competencies
• Proficient computer skills and experience in desktop publishing
• Skills in recording and editing video and audio footage using appropriate software
• Strong writing, interpersonal and other communication skills
• Excellent time management and organization skills
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
• Ability to create and effectively utilize networks
• Effective marketing
The ideal candidate will need to be proactive and show a reasonable level of initiative and work
under minimum supervision.
