KENYA HEALTH WORKFORCE PROJECT
PROJECT WEB DEVELOPER
The Web Developer for the Kenya Health Workforce project will be responsible for:
• Modification and improvement on the existing health professional websites, this may include training of users
• Development of a suite of web applications for the health professionals’ databases on joomla & MYSQL
• Link web application to other health professional systems. Use of a web service may be employed.
Qualifications:
• The candidate must have a degree in Information systems preferably minimum BSC in computer science from
a recognized University.
• Must have knowledge and experience in designing and building web applications. Use of open source
technologies such as Apache, MySQL, PHP would be helpful, but is not required.
• Must have working knowledge of web scripting and design principles - CSS, XHTML, JavaScript/Java/AJAX.
• Some experience with module/theme development with a CMS like Joomla, Drupal or Wordpress
• Proficiency in at least one structured programming language such as Java, C# or VB
• Must have clear understanding of database management systems such as MSQL server
Essential Skills
• Good interpersonal relationship and communication skills
• Good analytical and report writing skills
• Must be proactive and innovative keeping abreast with technological advancements
• Must have ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Must be a team player, flexible and professional who is customer focused
• Minimum of 2-3 years experience in the related field
