Terms of Reference (T.O.R): The graphic design intern will assist the World Vision East Africa in creating graphic solutions that support the design and increase the visibility of World Vision’s various outputs and products, including profiling reports, advocacy material and other publication materials.
The intern will function as part of the World Vision East Africa Communications team; and he/ she will report to the Regional Communications Director.
- Working on data visualization of the findings from profiling exercises, ensuring that statistical graphs and info-graphics are presented in an innovative and effective manner;
- Ensuring the layout and formatting of the final profiling reports.
- Create and design World Vision’s advocacy and other outreach materials for publication and distribution;
- Review World Vision information products and advise on improvements to design and layout, generating new design and layout ideas;
- Assist as needed with printing, ordering and distribution of World Vision publications and visibility materials;
- Assist in the design of event display material to meet communication/ advocacy objectives;
- Develop and maintain a visuals resource facility for easy retrieval of imagery and graphics;
- Develop other visual support materials, including videos and PowerPoint presentations;

- Any other tasks agreed upon, relating to above mentioned skills, and applied to other World Vision projects / products.
- The internship is based in the World Vision East Africa office in Nairobi for a period of 6 months. Desk space, access to relevant programmes and printing facilities will be provided.

Qualifications
Essential
- Studies related to graphic design, communications, multimedia communications, web design, new media, and/or other relevant fields.
Essential
- Experience in print design, web design, exhibit design, and illustrations;
- Knowledge of publishing software (e.g. Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro).
Desirable
- Experience in technical report editing and presentations;
- Experience in visualization techniques and software
- Experience in visualizing quantitative data and interpreting statistical frequencies;
- Previous nonprofit and/or graphic design experience.
Skills and Qualities (professional, technical, managerial, practical)

- Fluency and proficiency in current graphic design practices and technology;
- Attention to detail;
- Effective team player with the ability to work and think independently, and to be resourceful and proactive;
- Ability to work independently and to deliver in time;
- Demonstrated interest in humanitarian work and affinity with World Vision’s goals and objectives;
- Proficiency in English
