Abt Associates seeks qualified candidates for a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer position to assess the performance and impact of several hypertension demonstration programs in Kenya.Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Support the demonstration program implementation partners to develop or modify routine monitoring and evaluation plans, indicators to track project performance, data collection systems, and quality assurance processes.
- Organize and carry-out a technical assistance and capacity-building plan to improve implementation partners’ ability to conduct quality data collection and reporting.
- Travel to partners’ health service provision sites to check the quality of data collected through routine monitoring systems and help trouble-shot related issues.
- Compile, on a regular basis, monitoring data from all partners and provide the resulting datasets and summary reports to the Abt Project Director.
- Assist with program evaluation efforts, including overseeing field data collection for baseline and end-line household surveys.
- Advise on effective strategies for disseminating data summary/analyses to the implementation partners and other stakeholders in Kenya.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelors Degree (minimum), or a Master’s Degree (desirable), in Public Health, Sociology, Economics, Statistics, Business, or other relevant social science discipline.
- At least four (4) years of relevant professional experience in routine monitoring and/or evaluation of health programs.
- Three (3) or more years of international project experience in Kenya.
- Demonstrated experience working closely with program implementers in the design of project monitoring plans, including the development of indicators, data collection systems, and data quality assurance processes.
- Demonstrated expertise in data analysis or quantitative research methods.
- Experience in capacity building, training, or supportive supervision related to data collection
- Ability to independently plan and execute complex tasks while addressing daily management details and remaining organized and focused on long-term deadlines and strategy.
- Solid professional reputation and strong, demonstrated interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Ability to travel extensively in Kenya, including in rural areas, on a frequent basis.
- English language fluency.
- Knowledge of non-communicable diseases and experience in the development of health information systems are highly desirable.
