Job summary
The PSO/CSO Intern’s primary role is to support the Regional Director, Programme Manager and Programme Officer in rolling out programmes and developing appropriate project planning, implementation mechanisms and systems for PSO/CSO Programme.
The intern is responsible for organising and coordinating office operations, maintaining office services, records and efficiency, as well as any other related duties as required
Roles and responsibilities
Work with TMEA’s PSO/ CSO Programme Officer to finalise the programme of engagement and yearly work plan
Assist with grant management including reporting and proposal tracking, proper filing and maintenance of all grant files, participating in Grants Opening and Closing meetings, disseminating grants/proposal documents, managing grantee portfolios and responding to information requests from the field and from other partners
Provide day to day support to the PSO/CSO Programme Officer, ensure good lines of communication with TMEA programmes and offices, optimise resources by coordinating and collaborating with country offices and the EAC Secretariat
Provide administrative and logistical backstopping including material production, database management, updating the PSO/CSO webpage, coordination of conferences, workshops, meetings and other related forums and internal and external logistical arrangements relating to travel, accommodation, consultant management and regional platforms administration
Assist with programme reporting and information management including compilation of meeting minutes, forum reports, media PR and communications material, preparing information materials for briefing and review sessions and generally documenting programmatic activities
Provide extensive research support on a range of issues but with a specific focus on legal, political and development issues
Undertaking any other duties as may be assigned
Academic and professional qualifications
First degree (or equivalent) in a social science / development-related discipline.
Masters degree will be considered an added advantage
Work experience
At least 2 years proven experience preferably in private sector or civil society engagement within East Africa with expertise in:
Programme/ project management
Public private dialogue and private sector advocacy
Report writing
Additional skills
Influencing, networking and building sound personal relationships
IT Skills including database management, MS Office and internet use
A self motivated individual who requires minimal supervision
A good team player
Highly organised
Able to prioritise and produce work of a consistently high standard.
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to successfully interact with both senior and junior colleagues and interlocutors
