AWF currently seeks to hire a Senior Program Manager, Conservation Enterprise (Africa) to be based in its offices Headquarter Offices in Nairobi, Kenya.
The successful applicant will report to the Vice President, Program Operations.
Working very closely with the Associate Conservation Enterprise Director, this new position will have primary day- to – day operational responsibility for designing, developing and monitoring conservation enterprise investments for AWF across Eastern, Central, Western and Southern Africa.
The successful applicant will also be required to support development of the African Wildlife Fund (AWC) – working directly with the Investment Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Long term, pan-continental strategic planning for conservation enterprise together with the other core disciplines within AWF.
Proactively communicate with and support those responsible within AWF for raising funds to support the delivery of the conservation enterprise strategy as well supporting fund raising initiatives by liaising directly with prospective third party financiers.
Lead in identifying, assessing and rationalising new, high potential conservation enterprise development opportunities that will directly support AWF’s mission and the specific conservation enterprise strategy within it.;
Manage the process of designing, structuring, developing and launching qualifying conservation enterprises, including designing and negotiating related contracts with participating parties.
Monitor and record the progress of operational enterprises and providing on-going support as appropriate.
Lead the on-going design, development and deployment of processes and tools that will support
AWF’s ability to more efficiently deliver conservation enterprises in a high-growth expanding geographic context for the organisation.
Assist in developing the technical capacity and transfer of technical expertise to project staff in the field.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree from a reputable University or one or a combination of a relevant post graduate degree (business or finance related) and a relevant professional qualification;
Outstanding work-based / entrepreneurial credentials immediately following university.
Excellent working knowledge of core principles of management and financials
Significant working exposure to designing and negotiating financing and / or business development related legal contracts.
A demonstrable passion and skill for business development and related financing – either in a self-starting context or that of a wider / larger institution / corporation.
Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills including demonstrable cross-cultural sensitivity.
International experience.
Fluency in written and spoken English essential. Fluency in French be a strong advantage.
