The Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB) is the statutory Board overseeing the training, registration and licensing of Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Para-professionals and for matters relating to animal health services and animal welfare as mandated by the Veterinary Surgeons & Veterinary Paraprofessional Act 29 of 2011.
The Board is seeking experienced and highly motivated persons to fill the positions below which will be based in Nairobi.
Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will provide dynamic leadership to the Board and be responsible for the day to day management of the Board.
He/she will oversee the efficient implementation of the Board’s policies, strategies, decisions and activities.
He/she will also double as the Board Secretary and Registrar.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) degree with a post graduate qualification from a recognized institution in Management, Administration and/or Leadership.
Be members of Kenya Veterinary Association (KVA) of good professional standing and registered & retained by the Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB).
A Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent degree will be an added advantage.
At least fifteen (15) years continuous work experience of which five (5) years will be in senior management.
Proven leadership skills in efficiently managing human, financial and other resources in an organization with an outstanding track record of achieving set targets.
Excellent understanding of Policies and Laws relating to the animal resources and agricultural sectors in general and the veterinary profession in particular.
Team player with excellent computer, communication and relational skills.
High degree of honesty and integrity.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Finance & Administration Officer will manage all the Finance, Accounting and administrative functions of the Board.
He/she will provide timely and accurate accounts - in line with the Board’s financial policies and procedures, produce monthly & annual financial reports, ensure efficient budget development, implementation & monitoring, managing cash flows and ensuring all legal and fiscal requirements
are complied with.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration with a minimum of CPA Part II.
Those without the above qualification must be CPA (K) or its equivalent and be members of ICPAK.
At least five (5) years hands on experience in financial management preferably in a public institution.
Good knowledge and understanding of accounting, taxation, procurement and administration.
Knowledge of accounting packages, computer programs and applications will be an added advantage.
A good understanding of the policies, strategies and processes of the animal resource industry will be a distinct advantage.
Strong analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Team player with excellent communication and relational skills.
High degree of honesty and integrity.
