REMOTE SENSING / SATELLITE IMAGE INTERPRETER AND GIS PRODUCTS DEV JOB IN KENYA

The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) is looking for qualified
and highly motivated individuals to fill the following positions:

REMOTE SENSING / SATELLITE IMAGE INTERPRETER AND GIS PRODUCTS DEVELOPER
 
Duties and responsibilities:
• Carry out satellite image processing and interpretation based on low, medium high and
very high resolution data.
• Undertake change detection based on the interpreted outputs.
• Prepare map products from satellite images and their derivatives.
• GIS data gathering, processing, analysis and presentation: digital cartographic products.
• Creating products from services using geo-processing models.
 

Requirements:
• A first Degree in a relevant field, especially in Geomatics or Natural Sciences
(Environment, Geography, Rangeland Management, Forestry, Water Resources, etc).
• At least one (1) year experience in satellite image interpretation and analysis for the
Remote Sensing/Satellite Image Interpreter position and two (2) years and above for the
GIS Products Developer position in geo-processing and spatial modeling.
• Competent in using Remote Sensing and GIS software (ArcGIS, Erdas Imagine, Envi,
Ecognition, Geovis/Madcat, Idrisi, etc)
• A team player with positive attitude, fast learning and adaptation to new technologies.
• Applicants with good knowledge and practical skill of geo-processing and geodatabase
management will have added advantage for the GIS position.
