CLINICAL COORDINATOR AND TREATMENT SUPPORT SPECIALIST JOBS IN NAIROBI

Christian Health Association of Kenya, a national faith based organization committed to promoting
access to quality health care is seeking suitable candidates for the following positions for a 5-year
CDC funded comprehensive HIV AIDS Care and Treatment Project in selected faith based affiliated
sites in Central, Eastern and Nairobi regions:

CLINICAL COORDINATOR (MEDICAL DOCTOR – PHYSICIAN/ PEDIATRICIAN)
The position reports to the Project Principal Investigator.
Key roles and responsibilities:
• Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of the HIV care , treatment and support
strategy
• Assist CHAK and its partners in the assessment, development, improvement and
dissemination of sound HIV/AIDS care policies and strategies
• Provide support to implementing sites on comprehensive HIV care and treatment issues
through core technical assistance teams
• Analyze, synthesize and disseminate cutting edge methodologies, lessons learned and best
practices to partners regarding comprehensive HIV/AIDS care and their application to
policies and programs.
• Promote information exchange with partners, regional institutions and networks about
effective program implementation practices and lessons learned on all aspects related to HIV
care
Desired Skills:
• Technical expertise and experience in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support
• Demonstrated organizational, training and facilitation skills including clinical mentorship
• Demonstrated knowledge of USG/PEPFAR results reporting requirements
• Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a team player
Education and Experience:
• Professional advanced medical degree, MMed (Internal Medicine/Pediatrics)
• Minimum of 2 years experience in HIV&AIDS programs or clinical work
• Skilled in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications

Job Description:
The primary role of this position is to provide support for the research regulatory review process at
KEMRI. A secondary role is support for the office of Grantmanship.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Support real time review of reported adverse events from ongoing studies approved by the
KEMRI ERC.
• Develop and maintenance of a data base on the same.
• Support for the Ethics review committee and Scientific Steering (science review).
• Support for the office of Grantmanship for development of new proposals.
• Support the development of research grants particularly those which may require adverse event
reporting.
Qualifications and Competencies
• Degree in Medicine and registered to practice with the Kenya Medical and Dental Practitioners
Board with current licensure (PhD in related field of medicine or research is an added advantage).
• Masters in Public Health or Epidemiology or a research related Masters program.
• Training in research ethics or related field is an advantage.
• Familiarity with international adverse reporting systems e.g. DAIDS Toxicity tables
• Knowledge and demonstrable skills in a wide range of research including experience in
conducting clinical trials (Phase I/II/ III).
• Training in Good clinical practice (GCP).
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Competency in MS office.
• Must have demonstrated leadership skills.
• Must be a team player.

DISTRICT FIELD OPERATIONS ASSISTANTS (DFOA)
Introduction
The Government of the Republic of Kenya (GOK) has received financial assistance from African
Development Bank (AfDB) towards financing a five year Community Empowerment and Institutional
Support Project. The project objective is to empower poor community to access socio-economic services
in order to reduce poverty.
The project is implementing two main components;
• Capacity building,
• Institutional support in 107 districts.
The Ministry wishes to recruit suitable candidates to fill the posts of District Field Operations Assistants
(DFOAs).
District Field Operations Officer Functions
The DFOA will report to the District Development Officer (DDO) and perform the following duties and
responsibilities under his supervision and guidance of the Project Coordinator:
• Oversee and coordinate the implementation of project activities in their respective districts;
• Prepare project annual work plan and budget in line with activities under each component,
budgeted financial resources and schedule of implementation;
• Regularly monitor and evaluate the implementation of project activities to ensure that its
implementation progress is in line with approved work program and budget, expected outputs and
outcomes;
• Gather and compile data on project progress and performance indicators as outlined in the project
Logical Framework Matrix;
• Oversee the conduct of the baseline survey, beneficiary assessment studies and citizens or
Community Score Card (CSC) surveys;
