General Manager – Operations and Technology

Housing Finance (HF), Kenya’s Premier mortgage company with country wide operations has an exciting opportunity for talented, dynamic, self-driven and results oriented individual who are committed to performance excellence.


Reporting to the Director Business Operations, the General Manager – Operations and Technology will provide leadership and effective management of all activities related to Operations and Technology in the overall banking operations.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Develop strategies, processes and practices that will ensure timely generation of accurate management information for internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop strategies to centralise all back office operations in Head Office with a view to free front office of such work.
  • Evolve strategies to develop Trade Finance, Foreign Remittances and Treasury business volumes in co-ordination with the various Heads of related Business units
  • Develop annual plans for Operations and Technology functions in line with the overarching business strategic objectives.
  • Review and recommend policies for document management, automation of work procedures and delivery channels for Bank’s products and services with a view to provide quality and efficient customer service.
  • Review existing policies & procedures in operations and technology and recommend best practices in the bank, while ensuring adherence to laid down standards and controls/regulations
  • Oversee and ensure effective and efficient functioning of the Core Operational business units
  • Oversee back office operations of the Bank relating to Foreign Remittance, Trade Finance, Treasury and technology.
  • Take overall responsibility for the Bank’s automation programs within Operations and Technology.
  • Develop measures that will drive performance and enable smooth delivery of service and ensure exceptional customer experience and standards.
  • Implement and manage Business Continuity process to ensure optimal business support.
  • Effectively manage Human Resources within the departments so as to create a high performing, developing and cohesive team.
  • Maintain oversight of overall cost and overheads with the aim of ensuring that expenses are kept at the irreducible minimum.
  • Oversee undertaking of annual budgetary exercises within the functions.
Selection Criteria
  • Graduates with minimum of Eight years banking experience in Technology & Operations in a large commercial bank, of which at least Three years should have been in Senior Management level and must be familiar / acquainted with Quality & Change Management techniques.
  • Post Graduate degree/MBA with I.T. qualifications from a reputed institute, will be an added advantage.
  • Verifiable project management capabilities.
  • Strong leadership, planning and organisational skills.
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills
  • Exposure to banking operations, product knowledge and service oriented
  • Good interpersonal skills with passion and commitment to deliver quality customer service
  • Analytical and strategic thinking with ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
