The purpose of this role is to ensure adequate network elements support is provided to the business by installing, upgrading and maintaining the bank’s LAN/WAN infrastructure, Office Automation systems like Microsoft exchange, Share Point server and Information security products like Firewalls and patch management systems.

Job Purpose Statement

Key Responsibilities
- Provide Second Level Technical & Application Support of all bank’s infrastructure systems and IT environmental installations.
- To ensure proper implementation and installation of IT infrastructure in cost efficient and effective manner.
- Plan, test and implement network, Microsoft windows operating system applications and workstation hardware and software.
- Provide network documentation, training, and guidance to computing system clients and other business analysts.
- Install, upgrade, and configure network printing, directory structures, user access, security, software, and file services.
- Plan, document, seek approval and execute network and system changes to enhance performance and functionality.
- To ensure that all IT security aspects are defined, documented and implemented in accordance with the corporate Principles and Policies and in compliance with the Statements of Best Practice.
Network Support
- WAN/LAN support
- Vendor escalations
- Network capacity planning and backups
- Network uptime reporting
- Build and Install, upgrade and troubleshoot windows/Linux Operating systems.
- Install support Office applications such as Microsoft exchange, Share point servers and Patch management systems.
- Install and support Users on all office automation needs
- Standardize desktop environment for all CBA computer users
- Ensure consistency in application deployment
- Protect PC Software and Hardware against malicious configurations and virus attacks
- Educate users on various desktop applications available to them
- Avail departmental application as needed.
- Ensure departmental specific applications meet CBA desktop application standards.
- Work closely with other IT professionals to ensure systems are integrated correctly and fit for purpose.
- Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with and manage expectations of internal customers other stakeholders who impact performance.
- Planning and organizing to effectively structure work assignments for timely delivery on system analysis assignments.
- Knowledge and effective application of all relevant banking policies, processes, procedures and guidelines to consistently achieve required compliance standards or benchmarks.
- Technical experience with hands on experience with various telecommunications networks such as leased line/frame relay/ISDN/X.25/ATM/Satellite, and optional emerging technologies such as xDSL/Wireless. In-depth knowledge and hands on experience with high end routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN devices, private line, frame relay, and VPN technologies.
- Hands on experience with Microsoft Platform deployments
- Self-empowerment to enable development of open communication, teamwork and trust that are needed to support true performance and customer-service oriented culture.
- Team player and able to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to adapt to changes in systems and procedures
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science /Information Technology – Minimum Upper 2nd Class honors or 3.0 GPA
- Minimum 4 years working experience in a busy IT environment with a hands-on role in implementing and managing LANs and WANs.
- Experienced in Windows Enterprise servers or UNIX systems.
- Appropriate training in the assigned Information Systems, accompanying Operating Systems and environmental systems such as firewalls.
- Experience of working in the IT function within a banking environment will be an advantage.
- Experienced with platform architectures (e.g. client-server, n-tier, thin client)
- Working technical knowledge of ATMs will be an advantage.
