Marie Stopes Kenya (MSK)is a Local Non-Governmental Organization affiliated to Marie Stopes International.
MSK has provided affordable high quality innovative reproductive and sexual health care services to her clientele since 1986 through its nationwide network of static in reach centers and mobile outreach centres thereby enhancing accessibility of SRH services to the hard to reach rural citizenry of the republic of Kenya.
Legal Officer
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Legal Officer will provide legal advice to the Organization and management on all matters pertaining to the institution’s staff, property, activities, rights and obligations.
Qualifications and Competencies:-
Bachelors degree in Law(LLB)
An advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practice certificate
Member of the Law Society of Kenya
Have CPS (K) qualification will be added advantage
Have a minimum of five years experience in a busy legal firm, company or Corporation.
Ability to work with integrity, confidentiality and work with minimum supervision.
Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Safeguard the institution’s copyrights and intellectual property rights.
Any qualification & some experience in Communication will be an added advantage
Should be computer literate
Other personal attributes- Aggressive with excellent communication skills, a team player, ability to perform under pressure, results oriented with excellent analytical skills, Initiative, and commitment to personal growth and good knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
Provision of legal services such as litigation conveyance, analysis of legal risks and liaising with external lawyers and Organization lawyers on legal issues
Development and implementation of strategies aimed at providing an enabling legal and regulatory framework that preserves the integrity of the Organization
Ensuring compliance to statutory requirements in all Organizations transactions
Review and enforcement of compliance of Marie Stopes Kenya requirements
Preparation of legal opinions , interpretations and policies for the organization
Preparation of contracts, leases, MOUs and other legal instruments between MSK and other parties
Provision of secretarial services to the MSK Board and other various committees
Ability to find innovative solutions and approaches.
Arrange for Board meetings and take minutes during such meetings
Safeguard the institution’s copyrights and intellectual property rights.
