In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:

Reporting to the Senior Manager-RAN Strategy and Design. the holder of the position will contribute to the development of 3G/LTE strategy and design through extensive study of industry trends, liaison with vendors and with internal technical teams.
The incumbent will provide fit for purpose technology recommendations, parameters & feature reviews through proposed trials, initially on test-bed basis, and finally on live network, with demonstrated benefits – whether quality, capacity, cost savings or improved efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
Emerging technology monitoring.
Promote awareness of emerging technologies/methods to the technical staff.
Analysis of existing radio network.
Identify ways in which we can maximize the radio network resources we currently have.
Identify future radio network Requirements/Constraints.
Define and evaluate the various options that satisfy the requirements/constraints identified.
Specify and provide detailed evaluation of the technical solutions, identifying the technical components and their interrelationships, needed to meet the present and future needs of the radio network.
Formulate, conduct and project manage trials documenting every step and reporting the results.
Strategy Consolidation- Analyze vendor roadmaps Vs technological advancement.
Devise RF strategy document for the various aspects.
Smooth and timely transitions to new technologies.
Minimum requirements
University degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics/Telecommunication.
5 years work experience in RAN Planning /Operations with at least two of these in planning/operating 3G networks.
Project Management an added advantage.
Demonstrates thorough attitude and attention to detail.
Strong knowledge of and the ability to solve complex issues in the areas of: RF engineering (design principles, network optimization, propagation modeling and prediction, spectrum/frequency planning etc.)
Network architecture (3GPP Air interface, standards, technology and evolution, etc.).
Hardware (Cellsite equipment layout, network infrastructures).
Performance Management (System KPIs and metrics, etc.),.
Software (Parameter definition, etc).
Tools and Software (Planning tools, Performance management tools etc.)
An innate like for reading with ability to spend many hours reading technical documentation.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Ability to reason logically to provide relevant, appropriate and well supported information to support planning of technical roadmaps.
Sound analytic ability, data evaluation and review capability.
Can objectively and accurately assess needs for improvement.
Able to form strong positive relationships with the various project stakeholders and RND teams.
