HEAD OF MARKETING

JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client, operating in the Eastern African region, aspires to provide affordable, customer superior, entertainment experience and has a fresh range of innovative products and services targeting the modern African consumer.
The Head of Marketing we seek will be reporting to the Managing Director and have responsibility for providing strategic direction in the development and execution of the marketing, branding and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. These activities are aimed at entrenching the Company’s products and services as a leading brand and enhancing customer uptake and retention.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Brand Custodianship and Brand Marketing
Acting as the custodian of the brand through supplying brand guidelines and maintaining brand integrity across the broader organization
Developing and implementing brand marketing strategies, plans and budgets

Assuming ownership of the Group’s relationship with its advertising and PR agencies, including developing and managing Service level Agreements (SLAs).
2. Customer Uptake and retention
Responsible for providing strategic direction and ensuring all the activities are aligned and coordinated. These include
On-air presentation and promotions,
optimizing the potential of the Electronic Programming Guide as a key interface with consumers;
ensuring that the supply of programming information to the website is aligned with oth-er marketing activities and overseeing a road map for enriching the site through pro-gramming
overseeing the development of an active and engaged social media presence
Monthly newsletter for consumers
Training consumer-facing staff(sales, customer care, etc) on
3. Corporate Social Responsibility Programme
Develop and execute a corporate social responsibility programme that is integral to business and leverages the Group’s position as a media brand.

REQUIREMENTS
First degree in Marketing/ TV Production / Journalism/ Advertising or any other relevant field of study, a Masters degree is a plus.
At least five (5) years marketing experience at Senior Management level.
Experience in television marketing and / or an advertising agency would be highly advantageous.
A track record in effective and innovative marketing (or related) work is required
Consumer and Market research is essential and experience in on-air marketing would be a plus.
A keen interest in the media landscape in East Africa and ability to identify opportunities in media.
High level of motivation with ability to build capacity through coaching and mentoring
Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to build rapport and consensus.
Effective project management and organizational skills and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
