Job description: Assistant Community Advisors

PATH seeks to recruit Assistant Community Advisors to be based in APHIAplus Western kenya Project. The primary goal is to support the County Project Officers and the Community Advisors to oversee timely planning and implementation of project activities as assigned.
Job responsibilities include:
Work with other project team members to ensure integration of all project components.
Plan and engage in coordinating working linkages and networks with GOK line ministries (MOPHS, MOYAs, MGCSD, MOE), CBOs, youth groups, NGOs and other stakeholders.
Offer technical support to implementing partners during activity implementation to ensure success of the program. Assist in harmonizing partner interests and support joint activities amongst partners. Communicate regularly with partners on project implementation plans and achievements.
Monitor performance of set targets to ensure the program is achieving its outcomes as per the set indicators
Ensure reasonable and appropriate utilization of financial resources. Provide timely submission of community component activities financial requests and reconciliations in line with the organization’s financial policy and guidelines.
Hold regular meetings with youth/community groups, identify any bottlenecks in the implementation of their activities and work to bridge the gaps. Support the Community Advisors in providing technical assistance to all community partners - CHS, Youth Groups, Gender and BCC.
Assist in preparation of periodic reports on activity implementation, other project documents as may be requested from time to time and participate in work planning meetings.
Ensure that partners have the required project monitoring and reporting tools. Work closely with the Technical Advisors and M&E team to capture evidence of project impact through identification and documentation of success stories for shared learning within the project.
Develop and maintain an efficient filling system for community data
Required Skills
Strong organizational and administrative skills with considerable knowledge in computers.
Possess approachable and confident personality, with strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, sociable, flexible, open minded & extrovert personality.
Team-focused with the ability to build strong working relationships in the field with a wide range of individuals of varying socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds and partners, including key stakeholders, implementing partners, peer coordinators, NGOs and CBOs, government officials and the community.
Self motivated, disciplined, organized and reliable with ability to work under pressure.
Innovative, creative, dynamic, resourceful and independent thinking.
Ability to multitask, work under minimal supervision
Proven leadership, coaching and mentoring skills required especially among the youth.
Experience working with a variety of partners towards a common goal.
A fast learner, flexible and able to try new things, make mistakes and learn from them.

Required Experience
Diploma level training in Community Health, Community Development or Social Works
University degree in social studies, education or equivalent is an added advantage
Minimum of three years experience working at the community level with various partners including mobilization, implementation of activities and working with Ministries and other partners.
Experience in working with/in GOK line ministries, youth groups, CBOs and other stakeholders
Proven experience in organizing and conducting capacity building initiatives for various groups
Well versed with the public sector and youth partners in the community. Experience in implementing youth reproductive health activities and gender issues.
Experience in HIV and AIDS and adolescent reproductive health programs /issues an added advantage.
Experience in coordination of donor-funded projects desirable
