LAB TECHNICIAN JOB IN KENYA - ZINDUKA AFRICA

Zinduka Afrika is a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) that has opportunity for a Lab Technician

Reporting Date: Immediately
Reporting to: The Nurse

1. He/ She collect blood and other samples from patients.
2. The officer will also prepare solutions, reagents and stains in accordance with standard laboratory formulas and procedures.
3. He/she will be expected to operate basic laboratory equipments such as centrifuge, analytical balance and PH meter.
4. The officer will maintain and make minor adjustments to equipments e.g. calibration and alignment.
5. He/she will record and compile daily readings on all
temperature controlled laboratory equipment and areas and maintain
laboratory freezers and fridges.
6. The Officer will prioritize analysis according to customer requirements
7. Maintenance of local stock control records
8. Prioritize samples according to urgency
9. He/she shall comply with all relevant safety and infection control policies and procedures and ensure tidiness of laboratory rooms and benches.

Minimum Requirements:

Higher Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences.
Minimum two years working experience in a busy medical laboratory.

CLINICAL OFFICER JOB IN KENYA

Clinical Officer
Reporting to Primary and Preventive Health Care Coordinator.

Job specification
The job entails:-
1. Patient care and management
Provision of comprehensive and good quality clinical services to patientsOrdering investigation and interpretation of results for diagnosisCoordinating medical examinations tests.
2. Keeping of complete and up-to-date patient records and preparation of monthly and other periodic reports.
3. Carrying out preventive health care of patients.
4. Responding during outbreaks and emergencies in collaboration with public health officers
5. Ensuring availability of required equipment and ensuring continuity in the supply of consumables in the clinic.
6. Provide HIV/AIDS counseling, testing, PMTCT, preparation and adherence to antiretroviral drugs.
7. Undertake minor surgeries and administer drugs.
8. Preparation of reports

Requirements:

Must have :

C+ in KCSE
Diploma in clinical medicine and surgery from a recognized institution
Must be registered with the clinical officer’s council with a current practicing licence.
Must have a certificate in Voluntary Counseling and Testing from a recognized institution.
At least 2 years experience as a clinical officer position.
Experience working with HIV care and treatment programs.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION ADVISOR (Re advertisement)

Role Purpose
The Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor will have the primary responsibility for the design,
planning, and supervision of the implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities that
measure the overall performance of the APHIAPlus Nairobi – Coast project against set
objectives.
S/he will generate and implement annual Performance Monitoring Plans, liaise with USAID
Strategic Information Team and with MOH counterparts in the two provinces in order to
design interventions that support strengthening of monitoring capabilities in the provincial
health system.
The role will include designing and then commissioning consultants to conduct surveys and
special studies.

Job Requirements
• A Masters degree in a quantitatively-related social science, medicine, epidemiology,
or related field with over five years relevant work experience.
• Significant experience in developing and utilizing monitoring and evaluation systems
for large scale health sector related integrated health programs, preferably USAIDfunded.
• Experience in overseeing the development of data management systems
• Demonstrated ability in working collaboratively with and building the capacity of
national, regional and district level government partners, NGOs, FBOs and other
institutional partners.
• Demonstrated understanding of the Kenyan health system at the national, regional
and district levels and experience in scaling-up institutional capacities for planning
and management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to translate and
communicate research findings to policy makers, program managers, donors and
other stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and management skills

DATA MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (Re advertisement)

Role Purpose
Reporting to the Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor, s/he provides the technical expertise to
implement different stages of data and database management in line with the needs of the
overall monitoring, evaluation, research and reporting framework of the project.
S/he manages the integrity of the databases, translates information requirements of program
managers in the desired data architecture, develops processes to link and analyze data from a
variety of data sources.
S/he provides guidance for designing, development and use of data capture tools.
The role will ensure use of standard national and project specific tools to collect, analyze and
synthesize data.

Job Requirements
• A Bachelors Degree in IT or a data management related field with 5-7 years
progressive work experience.
• Proven experience in database design, development, implementation, documentation
and management using a variety of tools including SQL-compliant relational
databases
• Experience with the design and support of high standards for data quality and security
in large, multi-user data management systems
• Demonstrated experience with Health Management Information Systems;

PROJECT MANAGER (CLTS RESEARCH PROJECT)
Based in Nairobi
(Four years fixed term contract)
Plan is an international humanitarian child centered community development organization,

Plan started its operations in Kenya in 1982 and is committed to improving the lives and
futures of poor children through a child-centered community development approach.
Plan Kenya is seeking to recruit a Project Manager for a fixed term period of four years for
testing modified Community-led Total Sanitation for scalability Project.
The purpose of this job is to support and supervise The Testing Modified CLTS piloting,
monitoring and evaluation, and the dissemination of the results of the project.
The Testing Modified CLTS for Scalability is a four-year multi-country project with funding
from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that Plan International Kenya will implement with
support from Plan International USA and The Water Institute at the University of North
Carolina.
This is a rigorous, research-based project with the overall goal of advancing global sanitation
efforts by improving the cost-effectiveness and scalability of the CLTS approach.
This goal will be pursued by implementing CLTS pilot interventions in Kenya, Ethiopia and
Ghana, while collecting, evaluating, and disseminating practical lessons learned about
overcoming common challenges to implementing CLTS at scale.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support the field staff to facilitate the design, work planning and management of the
project.
• Also ensure that project staff, partner agencies, natural and local leaders deliver
respective activities
• Initiate and finalize the development of data collection tools and facilitate data
collection when necessary for the project to support timely Monitoring, Evaluation
and Research (MER) activities
• Ensure that all the reviews, studies, researches and the evaluations planned for the
project are implemented to support the project
• Set up and maintain an appropriate information management system for the project
while ensuring it is aligned with GOK Health Management Information System.
• Ensure timely reporting according to the donor and Plan International USA
guidelines and procedures
• Contribute to the collection and documentation of best practices and lessons learnt
from the program implementation and to disseminate results to local stakeholders
according to the Plan International USA and UNC guidelines.
• Responsible for updating Plan’s Programs and Project Module (PPM/PALS) to ensure
it is up to date at all times and supports in MER activities for the project

Required Skills or Experiences
• Bachelors Degree in a related technical or management discipline (Environmental
Sanitation, Public Health or other relevant degree with specialization in
rural/urban/water supply, sanitation and hygiene service provision)
• At least 3 years’ experience in program planning, monitoring, evaluation and research
position
• At least 3 years working with International NGOs and managing a donor funded
project
• Knowledge, Skills and Attitude required for the position:
• 3 years experience in rural development with a focus on community led CLTS
approaches, water resource management, sanitation, and health and hygiene
promotion.
• Knowledge of maternal, neonatal and child health and the health sector is an added
advantage.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• In-depth knowledge of the project cycle, project planning, management, research,
monitoring and evaluation.
• Good knowledge of research using quantitative and qualitative principles.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications and use of relevant software and other
applications, e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database, Internet.
• Good knowledge of data management software (SPSS, Word, Excel)
• Good report writing skills
• Driving experience with valid driving license
