Housing Finance has come up with a training programme to address the shortage of skilled artisans in Kenya who have been on the shortage for years.
Through the programme, one million artisans are expected to hone their skills in the next four years. Students will also be provided with career counselling, mentorship and technical training.
Director of Vision 2030 delivery board Mugo Kibati was quoted to say that the country is in dire need of well trained artisans who earn decent salaries.
He also noted that there has been concerns about the depth of artisans education in the country terming the housing finance programme as a move towards the direction because one there have been a problem convincing Kenyans that we need plans and programmes that are long term.
Frank Ireri the Managing Director of Housing Finance Foundation is going to launch a youth account around entrepreneurship, building and crafting thus creating an “army of one million artisans” for Kenya and the East African region.
