The Outgoing education Minister, Mutula Kilonzo, is set to release 2012 KCPE results this morning. The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) 2012 examination results will be released today.
Education minister Mutula Kilonzo will release the results at KNEC’s offices, Mitihani House off Caledonia Road in Nairobi at 9.30am.
“After the release, candidates are advised to collect their exam results from their respective centres where they registered,” KNEC secretary Paul Wasanga said on Tuesday.
“Candidates who have their results withheld will receive a letter through their headteachers explaining why the results have been withheld,” Mr Wasanga said.
Results of some 811, 930 candidates will be released.
Upon receipt of the results, candidates have 30 days to scrutinise them and lodge complaints with KNEC including all forms of discrepancies in the details of the results slips.
These details include the candidates name, index number and gender, school name, code and the grades obtained in each of the subjects.
Mr Wasanga said that candidates involved in exam irregularities will have their results cancelled and informed in writing through their head teachers.
“The head teachers are expected to inform candidates whose results have been cancelled and parents/guardians are advised to get information from the head teachers instead of travelling all the way to KNEC,” he added.
Cancelled results are never remarked.
Upon noting any discrepancy the candidates should communicate the query to KNEC within one month of the release of examination results.
KNEC has said that communication to candidates who will have their results withheld will be done by sending a letter through their head teachers explaining why the results have been withheld.
The affected candidates will be required to submit the necessary documents through their respective schools by 28th February 2013.
Candidates who were involved in any form of exam irregularity will have their results cancelled and communication on the same will be done through their respective heads
KNEC has stated that the cancelled results will not be re-marked.
The results of 811,930 candidates who sat for the 2012 KCPE will be released exactly one month late compared to other years when they are released just after christmas holidays.
The changes were as a result of academic timetables that were changed owing to the teachers’ strike late last year.
