Kerio Valley Development Authority is a Regional Development Authority established by an Act of Parliament Cap 441 of 1979 and mandated to spearhead Development within the Kerio Valley region and its catchment regions, with a view to fostering sustainable economic development and empowering the communities.
Vision: To be a leading Regional Development Agency in river basin based integrated and sustainable development.
Mission: To identify, plan and coordinate the implementation of integrated development programs by utilizing available resources to improve the living standards of the people.
The Authority is seeking for a Managing Director who shall perform the following duties and responsibilities.
Be the Chief Executive Officer and Secretary to the Board;
Implement and Monitor decisions of the Board of Directors and appraise the Board on the progress;
Be responsible for the implementation of the Performance Contract as signed between the Board of Directors and Government;
Provide strategic and transformative leadership, draw and execute plans for the effective implementation of the Authority’s Strategic Plan in line with Vision 2030;
Establish and maintain collaboration with key local, regional and international partners to promote investments and development in the region;
Manage and control the Authority’s financial and other resources in an efficient and cost effective manner, in consultation with the Board and parent Ministry;
Review, direct and manage the Authority’s financial and operational systems, procedures and controls to ensure that they are professional, workable and sustainable;
Oversee the Organization’s human resource and ensure that appropriate management structures and policies are developed and implemented.
Specific Qualification and Experience
Must be a Kenyan citizen
Possess a Master’s degree in any of the following: Engineering, Agriculture, Animal Production and Range Management, Environmental Planning and Management, Environment and Community Development, Natural Sciences, Business Administration, Economics or related fields. A professional qualification in the relevant fields will be an added advantage
Must have a minimum of (10) years experience in management in a business or development organizations at Senior Management level
Must be able to demonstrate managerial, entrepreneurial, administrative and leadership competence
Demonstrate clear understanding of the role of regional development in Kenya’s social economic development and particularly the area of jurisdiction in line with Vision 2030
Proven ability in resource mobilization, networking and linkages with development partners/organizations.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
Must be computer literate
Must have evidence of having undergone a management course
Membership of a recognized professional body will be an added advantage
An attractive remuneration package commensurate with responsibilities of the job and the experience of the individual will be negotiated with the right candidate.
The position is on a three (3) years renewable contract based on performance.
