To provide efficient and effective statistical coordination and support for on-going projects and to the research teams in order to generate relevant reports, statistics and matrices to support research study findings.
The post holder will report to Cluster Manager/Study PI
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop, review and implement study analysis plans and work closely with the research and ICT teams to develop and manage systems for collecting, storing and analyzing research data
2. Providing advice on randomization.
3. Co-ordinate and support systems and tools for collecting, entering, editing, cleaning, storing, archiving, retrieving, organizing, and transferring data.
4. Liaise with Data Managers and Programmers to ensure data quality by carrying out data validation including discrepancy checking and cleaning and report generation of records generated from the databases.
5. Schedule and prepare analysis reports for relevant committees and publications and provide technical support in the production of summary tables and graphics for interim and final analyses.
6. Interpret, present and discuss results with colleagues and collaborators in the trial/study.
7. Ensure deadlines and project milestones relating to data analyses are met and co-ordinate with other members of staff and external collaborators as necessary
8. Generate reports including verification error reports, comments reports, constraints reports and lists of all problems experienced in the sites as regards data collection.
9. Supervise junior statisticians through the allocation of duties, performance monitoring and
coaching them to develop their skills and capacity as may be required.10. Document existing processes and participate in staff cross training.
11. Manage a service providing statistical analyses to all cluster scientists
12. Oversee the analysis of the Kilifi HDSS
13. Establish systems for routine analytic reports for ongoing projects
14. And any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:Skills and Qualification
1. A Masters degree in Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent and a first degree in Statistics, Epidemiology, Biology or equivalent
2. Knowledge of one or more statistical packages (including Stata, R, SPSS or SAS)
3. At least 3 years prior research experience in the health sciences.
4. Proficiency with statistical and data management procedures (data cleaning, manipulation, summarization, tables, listings, graphics, and inferential statistical output), and report generation.
5. Exposure/ experience to GIS analysis
6. Strong computing skills
